JonF 79 Posted October 7, 2010 Specifically i was looking at those kits that allow you to hang your pistols on the door. I see two different types, 1 with velcro holsters that you can move around to suit and the other is a wire rack with fixed positions. I have reservations about both such as will the holster velcro break loose and drop you guns? And with the wire rack model, are the pistols really secure in those cradles? Now its not that i go slamming the safe door or anything, just wondering how robust those things actually are beyond the pics i see on the website. e80hydro 120 Posted October 8, 2010 I made this out of wood. Cheap and easy. Holds 6 handguns. You could probably fit 5 in a row instead of 3 if you wanted, and add as many levels as needed. If I was to do this again I would probably stagger the guns so the barrels on the guns above didn't interfere with the grips on the guns below. Sorry for the poor quality phone pics. It looks better in real life.
Pate 1 Posted October 16, 2010 I have the Rack 'em thats shown in the picture on the right. It works pretty good, but is kind of a pain to get setup the first time. You have to arrange the holders so they clear the interior of the safe. I found that adding one gun at a time and closing the door to check for interference is the best way to go. I filled mine and am now planning to order some handgun hangers for the shelves.
usnmars 136 Posted October 16, 2010 I am not going to post a pic of my safe, but I have put a bungee cord across the front of it. I had a "gun-alanche" a couple of years ago and this helps prevent it.
Fishpaw 17 Posted October 16, 2010 My safe has a top shelf in it....its tall enough for the long guns, and the handguns are in silicone cloth or something similar to keep em from knocking together and sitting on the shelf.

e80hydro 120 Posted October 18, 2010 I use my wife's old jeans. That's great!! Reminds me of an old friend who used a pair of jeans for door panel coverings in his van. He had the one pocket located so it held a pack of cigaretts.

Did the exterior of your friend's van look like this?
