FID with dwi

Hey everyone, I'm not to familiar with this at all.my cousin had a dwi back in 2006. Besides that he hasn't been in any trouble with the law. Can he get a FID if all he had was a fine. No jail,probation or parole. Thanks

That doesn't mean the local PD won't deny the application. It just means he might have to appeal to county court where a judge will grant the FID.

I got one back in 2009, had no problem getting my FOID after I got my license back. Had to pull some strings over at the local PD to get the paperwork run through the system though, after they sat on it for a solid 5-6 months. All due to zero communication.

in NJ DWI is a motor vehicle violation, not a crime. If they denied you for DEEWEE, then they could deny your for say, careless driving or running a Stop sign. I know some PD's can be dicks, but you should not be denied for that. On a side note, Union City Police as all police depts require 2 character references. On the chracter reference they ask for a Social Security number and a drivers license number. They also require you to notorize it. I guess they hope that people wont jump thru hoops. It's obvious they dont want thier law abiding residents to have firearms, but they are a bit out of control.
