Where to buy a safe

Recommended Posts

Rifleman, those are some great links. Thanks for posting them. I'm going to take another look around my house for

suitable hiding spots. Oh, and BTW, I believe I've mentioned this before, but you definitely have my vote for best avatars. :)

Thanks!

I'm going to do the same and look around the house. I'd like to find a place on the first floor for gun/ammo storage.

Great thread and awesome links

Am I the only one who really doesn't like the idea of a dial or electronic keypad lock? The dial I'm pretty sure I'd mess up in a pressure situation and electronic keypad lock...well I don't like having more things on batteries. I've gotten one of these for my bedside pistol and feel completely secure that I can access it quickly: http://www.vlineind.com/html/top_draw.html

I'm thinking about doing one of these two for hidden storage of a few more guns w/ammo. It won't store a whole arsenal, but if you want to hide something in a wall but still have reasonable access to it I think it's a decent option...definitely not NEARLY as cool as some of the other options we've seen on the thread, nor as spacious...but relatively inexpensive I'd think.

I'm pretty sure you can get these on amazon and get some free or cheap shipping.

I haven't seen a good solution for anything more than 3-4 guns that doesn't require batteries or a dial besides the other stuff on this thread, but that seemed more on the concealment angle than actual security in some cases.

It looks like those vault/cases will fit in between wall studs as long as there is no vent/electrical/fire block. Is that correct? If so, they would be very easy to install.

Very nice.. What type is this and *gulp* how much did it cost :)

**edit** WInchester Ranger? Just saw the pic description. Model/Size?

Winchester Ranger 45. Holds 51 long guns. Lets just say the price was well worth it, I didn't have to lug it in. It took 4 guys 3 hours to get it where I wanted it.

are safes of any kind tax emempt or just ones for "guns"?

Lowes had some nice deals on them a little while back

I have two identical safes from Lowes. They are to keep honest people out, most safes are. Depending on where you live, safes just slow-down a crook. A good crook will be in and out quickly, but they are few and far between.

I don't have room for a monster safe so I have two of them in different areas of the house, best I could do. My neighborhood is very packed though and a dead-end street, I'm not worried about it. The safes are for a small piece of mind and keep the kids away from the guns.

Police in my town respond to a call in about a minute. Gonna take longer than a minute to get into my safe. ;)
