Selling ammo

I would like to sell extra ammo via the Forum. Am I legally required to collect any information ( I.e drivers licence, prove of age, etc.) from the buyer?

You need to be a paid member to sell firearms related stuff on NJGF. The purchaser must be 18+ if the ammo is for a long gun. If your ammo is for a handgun, the NJ buyer must be 21+ and have a FPID and/or a PPP.

To be more specific, what is my legal obligation to confirm the buyer is of legal age? Should I request a copy of drivers license? Have not done this before and want to conform to the law.

If you want to play it extra safe and there is any question in your mind the purchaser is not old enough, ask for a drivers license. Like PK90 said rifle ammo:18; handgun ammo:21.

I sent you a pm about the ammo; but just to clarify you don't need a copy of the buyers driver's license, just look at it to verify age.

Just as an added note. If you are selling HP ammo, you need to follow NJs

HP transport rules. Ie make sale at your house or a shooting range. Both

are exempted locations.

If you are selling for profit on this site, you will need to purchase an NJGF vendor membership. If it's just extra ammo you have laying around and want to get rid of, an NJGF Premier membership is good.
