Ladies day @ Old Bridge

Recommended Posts

I think you need to pre-register for this event, and you need to be a woman. Let the wife enter and you can go and watch. Call Anna, see the OBRPC website for the newsletter and names/phone numbers for different leagues, etc.... Anna's phone number is listed there, she is either in-charge of this event or certainly involved in this event.

Thanks Guys, I spoke to the guy who is running the youth smallbore at the indoor thursday night.

He filled me in on some details and I'm taking my 12 year old to shoot tomorrow night.

He also said that the wife of one of the guys there is in charge of the ladies day at the outdoor.

I should be able to get all the info I need.

Thanks for the replies, Jer

Lance's wife Anna is in charge of Ladies Day. Their number is in the newsletter available on the Club's web site. Or you can see Lance tomorrow night. He's a good guy and will help you.

Have a good time with your 12 year old! Before you know it they grow up and move to Iowa!

I just want to get a look at the outdoor range --- As you know It's a good chunk of money to join the club. I'd like to see the ranges before I commit.

My wife is on board for us to find a club. I used to be a member at Langhorne in PA. A trip to the range was an all day event and I just found myself not going for lack of time.

It's been a few years now with no place close to shoot anything but rimfire and shotgun. Time to join a club again.

Old bridge is less than 30 minutes - the suck is it's through the mess on 18 thru east bruns. Coming from Rutgers stadium area.

I try and take advantage of any opportunity I can to shoot with my youngest. He's been my shooting partner for a few years now. I'm not looking forward to the day he's too busy.

Jer

Once you see for yourself what Old Bridge has to offer WITH TWO RANGES (Indoor and Outdoor), you'll get your checkbook out. Lots of friends to make and fun to get involved in! The Leagues are "beginner-friendly" so Noobs feel right at home at their first Match. If you forgot something such as ammo, mags, even a holster or belt (and in some cases the gun itself), someone will step-up and make sure that you can shoot the Match.

Membership is available by showing-up at the Indoor Range BEFORE 9:00 AM on the second Sunday of each month, or by special arrangement with our Membership Chairman (who's contact information is published in the Club's newsletter available on the Club's web site).

With gas at almost $4.00 a gallon, if you enjoy shooting year-round as much as I do the dues pays for itself........

Jer, get your wife on the list for the Ladies Day event and you can come and see the outdoor range. There are a lot of events at the indoor and outdoor ranges that are open to the public, as non-members you pay a different fee to participate. It gives people a great opportunity to see what the club has to offer. Not all clubs do this, some are almost 100% members-only with rare special occasions, not us!

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
