Lead Smelter Closing...rise in ammo prices?

Recommended Posts

Looks like the last Lead Smelter in the US will be closing next year due to Hope and Change regulations, that will also take down 278 jobs.

How will this affect ammo prices if lead components have to be imported?

Hmmm thats not what the article says, it says they will be closing a particular plant because it isn't worth upgrading, while they are pursuing possible upgrades at other locations. That means they have other locations.

It is the last primary smelter in the US, other locations in North America would include Mexico and Canada, but what about import tariffs? Or would NAFTA stuff apply?

Lead is really bad stuff, and if they weren't willing to comply with environmental regulations I'm OK with them closing. A lot of environmental regulations are silly or way past reasonable guidelines, but lead is bad.

OMG - so is Asbestos - it's evil!!!!

And mercury too!

And cadmium!

And Hydrogen - I mean look what happened with the Hindenbloomberg!

And copper - it poisons wildlife!

And DDT!!

sounds like a tree hugger.

If you feel something is bad ,then you dont do it. But dont tell the rest of us what to do.

guess outdoors is safer if:

the winds at your back

someone else handles the ammunition and loads your weapon

lead dust is lead dust in the air.whats the range of air?
