Agent_Smith 1 Posted September 19, 2012 Has anyone been to the Sunday eve action shooting matches at Tenafly? How do those compare with the idpa matches at SCFGPA? Thanks GS
zoid 24 Posted September 19, 2012 I don't know how SCFGPA is as I've never shot there, but Tenafly is very laid back and easy going and a good time. At most I think I've seen 20 people for the action match. Starts at 6:30pm or so and you can be out before 9/9:30 usually. Usually three stages. I'd recommend it for anyone close by. msg73 1 Posted September 20, 2012 FYI - if there's less than 9 people, it's just an informal practice night. I think there has only been one or two nights this entire summer that was a regular scored match.
dtown223 12 Posted September 20, 2012 Walk-ins ok to shoot-spectate? I know the times are posted, is it advisable to come 1/2 hr early or so, to help setup?
ronhonda 86 Posted September 20, 2012 Every one just walks on. No pre-reg. Just show up. Earlier the better.

Col. Mortimer 11 Posted September 20, 2012 Thanks! gonna have to start comin by-my place is about two miles from there. Good idea. Good crowd there and informal shooting. Good for a little practice on a Sunday evening. If your only two miles away, it's a no brainer.

Help is always welcome. Plus you get an early look at the stages.
dtown223 12 Posted September 20, 2012 Thanks Colonel! I'm going to try and make it this Sunday
DargZ 5 Posted September 20, 2012 Is it every Sunday? I'm interested in checking it out. I went to their website and requested for more information but got a blank email back.
Agent_Smith 1 Posted September 21, 2012 It looks like there's a different type of action match each Sunday.

addicted 0 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm really interested in trying this out. Do you need to be a member of the club to shoot in the action pistol matches? What kind of gear and orientation Is required?
Agent_Smith 1 Posted October 20, 2012 You don't need to be a member of the club. Gear's pretty standard for each sport. I think for orientation you need to show up early for safety briefing. I checked out the match a few weeks back but didn't shoot. Really friendly group. I'm gonna shoot knockdown steel next week using my IDPA rig (cuz that's what I've got), a Glock 34, five 10-round magazines, kydex holster.

Some of the guys at Somerset IDPA were talking about going to this one. Plus, I can always use practice with knockdown steel.
addicted 0 Posted October 22, 2012 Just got home. Had a great time. Apparently I wasn't only new guy, witch was nice. Good group down there. I will definitely be going back. If your local I'd recommend it.
AlexC 2 Posted October 14, 2014 Has anyone been shooting at Tenafly on Sunday evenings lately? These comments from a couple of years back still valid? I'm shooting IDPA at Old Bridge mostly but wanted to try out the centerfire steel knockdown 4th Sundays of the month. Any comments, advice or tips is greatly appreciated. Thanks! I know they took the summer off from hosting the Sunday evening matches, but resumed Oct 5 with a Bianchi cup match. I didn't get an email about a match last Sunday, but just received one about a knock down steel match this Sunday. Starting an hour earlier than last year--arrive at 4:30, shoot starts at 5. Pistol/Revolver, pistol-caliber carbine, and shotgun with birdshot all allowed, many shooters shoot two divisions. Newbie-friendly, $10 to shoot, no prizes, but a good time for all.
