Shipping a gun to SA for work

Hey guys. I have a springfield 1911 range officer and i was thinking aobut shipping it back to SA for some work i want done. My question is do I have to go through an ffl or can I fed ex it from my home and have them ship it back to me.

You can shop yourself and it can come back to you as long as your shipping to the manufacturer.

You can ship it yourself but it must be sent by overnight mail using Fed Ex or UPS. You cannot mail it through the US Mail if its a handgun.

I recently sent an EMP to Springfield Armory using Fedex. Was straightforward to do - SA sent me a Fedex shipping label which made it even easier.

 

The EMP was returned back to my home address by Fedex.

Thanks everyone. P.S. wombat how was the work you got done. I am thinking sights and possibily a ramp polish and rethroat on the barrel I could not get my gun to feed semiwadcutters this weekend i will give them a call first and see what they suggest

See the EMP post which I started and also one about SA customer service for more details. The quick summary is that the EMP was unable to consistently feed Hollow Points, also tried several brands. They fixed it free of charge and since then it has fed all HPs.

 

Overall a very positive experience.
