Transporting Long Guns without an FID

Recommended Posts

No.

Now stay with me on this. You need to get your FID. Your spouse also needs an FID.

If you want to take her longarms to the range with you, you will have to fill out a Certificate of Eligibility. She's essentially selling the guns to you. When you go back home, fill out a Certificate of Eligibility and essentially sell the guns back to her.

Now to clarify...is that because they're not "his", but his spouse's instead?

Would the answer still be 'no' if they were his and didn't have an FID?

I was under the impression that, as long as the gun was purchased legally in another state while a member of that state, there is no requirement for FID when you move to NJ....it's only if you lived here during the acquisition that you need an FID. Is that correct?

Yes, because they are not his. If his spouse came with him (and I assume mx597turbo is a him) that would be a different story. They could do all of the shooting they want together. But if he goes alone with her guns, it is an unlawful transfer.

Sound crazy? Join me at the February 8th Rally in Trenton and help fix it.

Crazy... definitely not. It's because of laws like this our streets are so safe

Unfortunately, I'm on track for perfect attendance this year, and it carries a bonus. So I won't be able to attend the rally.
