Need a little guidance here

Recommended Posts

So my friend wants to get his FID and a pistol permit. I'm all for it, the problem is he has a DUI on his record. Its only one, and it was for a very stupid mistake. Could they deny him on that alone? Or would they just hassle him over it and make him wait it out for an ungodly stretch of time?

As long as your friend hasn't been CONVICTED of "public Intoxication" or some such he can then say that he "is not a habitual drunkard" on the Permit paperwork. Anyone arrested for Bar Fights due to a constant state of drunkenness need not apply....

IANAL, and that's merely my opinion. ONE stupid move is forgivable, several show evidence of a continuing pattern. That's what the CLEO will look for.

I remember reading the Jersey Journal ( i don't buy it, just look at the stupid stories) and he was denying everything. Yet, the numerous patrons and officers involved said he was a beligerant, violent drunk.

And he's still in office, and telling ME what I can and can't own in regards to firearms. Yeah okay, later mr. mayor.

A DUI is a traffic offense. I have one from 1991 and haven't been denied in the past.

I used to include it in the past, but didn't put it down this time since they changed the way the question is asked.
