Publicity we DO NOT need...

Recommended Posts

You're right, but we're one hell of a large minority. With 47% of US households having firearms, even with NJ's lower number, we are strong enough to have an impact. We DO need to speak up, and complacency IS bad. We cannot, however, act in a manner which alienates the general public, feeds into negative perceptions of gun owners, or make us seem like assholes/ weirdos. We need to show other people that we are their friends and neighbors. We should also take people out shooting, since that's probably the best way to dispel most of the "guns are evil" stuff they hear. Once they realize it's not just the tool of the criminal, but rather, more often the property of the model citizen, then we will change minds.

When has been being a minority ever made a difference. The only class of people in the US who have zero rights are white, straight, men, that practice a religion.

Sitting back and being polite has had its day and it didn't work!!! All it gets us is ignored. We need to let people know that we will not allow our rights to be stripped away.

Let see, if we are polite media calls us rednecks, gun nuts, crazies etc. What will they call us if we are not polite maybe "rednecks, gun nuts, crazies" ?

Here she is. I would hardly call that "heckling" or "shouting down".

Yup....that's the woman in charge of the NJ division of 'One Million Moms for Gun Control' or whatever rebrand the gun control group decided to do.....

Glad to see they're dressed like normal citizens, not in camo and stuff.

Nobody's going to bust my stones when my father in law and I show up outside the State Capital tomorrow in 20 degrees rain/snow wearing fleece caps that happen to be camo will they? We're not coming in full garb to make some kind of silly statement, but if our hats are the most comfortable for the circumstances, that's what we're going with.

With that said, if we can somehow attend one of these witch hunt hearings, I'd be going full suit and tie. I do agree one's appearance at those sorts of things and being the center of attention even for that short period if time weighs pretty heavy in others' perceptions of our personalities.

People are more apt to give credence to your statements when dressed professionally, right, wrong, or indifferent.

Great. Who cares what you would call it.

There are 3 photo's and one video in that link. There were at least 50 people speaking, probably more, and the the only video the media plays is the poor mom looking to protect her kids getting disrupted, an admonishment by the chair, and then a report of this same woman ultimately getting escorted (protected) out by armed police. This is a good thing, or a bad thing? It helps us, or hurts us?
