FID for .22LR

I'm buying some 22 and present my FID:

Q - What's the purpose of the little binder where my info is recorded.

A - Obviously to record the transaction.

 

Who sees it? Why? When? I understand firearm records and that 22 is a handgun round .

Are the records packed up periodically and sent off for analysis? In PA just take the box to the register.

 

I guess it's just a NJ thing. Or maybe there's a better answer???

NJ records all ammo sales in a bound book which is inspected by the state pd during our audits.

Some places keep electronic records instead of a bound book.

 

If you don't want your purchases recorded buy your ammo out of state.

Not all gun shops record .22lr my LGS does not.

 

I guess its anybody argument whether its a rifle or pistol round... but it is called long "Rifle"

This is the danger associated with "handgun ammo" logs and armor piercing rules. Everything is handgun ammo, because someone has chambered every rifle round in a handgun somewhere sometime.
