Primary arms red dot with 3xmagnifier

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I just received the primary arms 2moa red dot with a 3x magnifier I mounted it on my AR and was fooling around with it in my basement. With just the red dot mounted the field of view is great. But when I put the magnifier on it the field of view is so much less, is this normal? This is the first time I am using any type of optic. Thanks very much

It is normal to have a smaller FOV when you're looking through a magnified scope. This is true of any optic... the higher the magnification, the smaller the FOV. Which 3x magnifier did you get? The regular or the long eye relief one? If it's the regular, you really need to get your eye very close to the lens to get the best possible FOV, as it has a pretty short eye relief.

The PA red dot and 3x magnifier are very good kit for the money. Don't get me wrong, it's not Aimpoint level quality, but for the money you pay it's really good stuff. I've had the same set for a year and have shot hundreds of rounds on my AR's with it, and never had a single issue. Never lost zero either.

I have the PA 2 MOA red dot and 3x long eye relief magnifier and I seem to be able to get a good field of view at about 3 inches out, which is perfect for me.

Honestly I am still amazed at the quality of both the magnifier and red dot for $200 combined. Only think I need to do now is replce the shitty qd mount the magnifier came with for a better quality swing mount.

I have the same cantilever mount as Tony but my Vortex RDS is slightly longer than the RDS that Tony has.

I have a regular A2 front sight post. The mount as shown gives it a cowitness just high enough to be above the front sight. It works out nicely.

I have the Vortex RDS and 3x magnifier from Primary Arms. I have the mount that you can slide the magnifier out of the way. It's nice quality but I don't like the way the rifle balances with it.

I have the same magnifer mount and I agree it throws the rifle off when u don't want to use it.

That's why I've been thinking about the lucid hd7 or the vortex with the screw in magnifer and using the flip one on my 15-22 or something else
