Reloading bench - what height should it be?

Recommended Posts

Hello all -

I recently picked up a Lee progressive loader of midway and now I need to set up my bench. I'll be building the bench from lumber so I'm not sure if there is a specific or prefer height the bench needs to be. I'm 5'8" tall and have about 9 foot ceiling ins in my basement.

Any help is appreciated!!

Depends on whether you want to sit in a regular chair, a stool or stand-up. Also whether the press will be bench mounted or mounted on an elevated mount that bolts to your bench. I just used to make my benches 30" tall, bench mount the press and sit in a regular chair. YMMV.

Adios,

What press are you going to use? A Dillon strong mount raises the press ~8 inches.

What I found comfortable is

1. Sit in the stool

2. Pretend like you are grabbing the press's handle

3. Your elbow should be about 135 degree angle.

This gives full range of motion without having to stretch.

make the bench so that when the press is mounted it will put the handle in your hand.
