ryan_j 0 Posted April 2, 2013 http://defensedistributed.com/ This is the place where you could have downloaded 3D printed gun parts, magazines and other stuff. They were going to have a fully printable AR-15 soon. Looks like the feds shut them down. I'm hoping this is an april fools prank but it doesn't seem that way... EDIT: Not sure who seized it exactly, homeland security, FBI, DOJ? News report: http://blogs.artinfo.com/objectlessons/2013/04/01/april-fools-3-d-printed-gun-site-defense-distributed-allegedly-seized-by-the-feds/
Blacksmythe 71 Posted April 2, 2013 That looks legit. A whole big fuss over a polymer receiver.....Only thing new is that you could potentially print it after you spent a few thousand dollars.
ryan_j 0 Posted April 2, 2013 Um, not so sure. The whois still shows the nameservers as cloudflare and the A record points to cloudflare. Usually for seized domains they change the nameservers to seizedservers.net
Melgamatic 66 Posted April 2, 2013 Consensus on the internet is that it might have been a 4/1 situation...
ryan_j 0 Posted April 2, 2013 LOL, they really had me going there. I must admit, this was the best april fools prank I've seen today. LOL!
RubberBullets 65 Posted April 2, 2013 I mentioned this is another thread.. The seizure notice is different than other legit fed seizures notices...the fact that it is april fools day... and finally "entity" is spelled incorrectly on the seizure notice Id say its a fake...but ive been putting off dl'ing their files.. tomorrow we shall see..and ill torrent their files if i have to. My money is on a fake, but an eye opener nonetheless
222 3 Posted April 2, 2013 looks like they read the coverage that "entitites" was misspelled, and fixed it in an update. (looks like a Freudian slip there..)
Recon Racoon 49 Posted April 2, 2013 The image is even held locally on their server. Its in an image sub-directory. April Fools Day strikes hard.
