Cowboy6373 0 Posted April 9, 2013 All done, a copy of my letter to everyone on the list. My fingers are bleeding from typing but well worth it. Below is a copy of the letter I sent to each one individually...... I am writing regarding pending and proposed gun control measures. In terms of proposed measures, I urge you to vote against any measure that does not clearly differentiate between law abiding citizens and gun owners, and criminals or the criminally insane. The 2nd Amendment is a Right, just like the 1st Amendment, which allows me to contact you with my views. There are currently over 300 major Federal and State gun laws, with an unknown number of local laws, we should strive to enforce those laws against the people who break them. Sincerely,
wooly bugger 1 Posted April 9, 2013 Does anyone know if this goes through a committee, or is it all in the hands of Sweeney to decide what goes to the floor and what doesn't? In either case, it will be important to influence the early decision makers as well as the rank and file voters.
Dan 177 Posted April 9, 2013 I've emailed and snail mailed my Senator , Sam Thompson. Though a bit ambiguous, he does show promise by insinuating there are many proposed "useless" laws on the subject of gun control, and how he will not go overboard. I may try to set up a face to face meeting with him as well. Thank you for your letter regarding proposed gun legislation. I was raised in the South and my father as well as most of our friends and neighbors were gun-owners and law abiding citizens. My dad gave me a 22 caliber rifle when I was about 14. I am not inclined to go overboard in enacting useless laws on this subject. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office. Sincerely, Senator Samuel D. Thompson, Ph.D. 12th Legislative District 732-607-7580
71ragtopgoat 23 Posted April 9, 2013 Called Gerald Cardinale Dist 39 I asked him to oppose bills not making the distinction. I was told in no uncertain terms will he support any anti second amendment bills.I laughed and told his secretary if that is indeed the case he has my vote for life.LOL And how rare it is in NJ for such a stand and how proud of him I am for taking such a position She laughed and took my name down. Cowboy6373 0 Posted April 9, 2013 I received a response from Senator Singer which is extremely promising!! He said, "You and I are on the same page with this issue. I believe our efforts would be better spent by putting more dollars into our mental health system." Also Senator Bateman responded with a lengthy email. I will paraphrase to get to his point. He said, "....I believe it would be a mistake to focus solely on new gun legislation without looking at all facets that led to this tragedy (Sandy Hook)". He also acknowledged that, "New Jersey gun laws are already the second strongest in the nation (behind only California)....." 2 Strong responses and it looks like our voices are being heard. varna 9 Posted April 17, 2013 I recieved a call from Van Drew in reply to my call about the Albano fiasco on the DL stuff. After he cleared up the Albano "mistake" Van Drew told me on the phone that he is against ANY and ALL of the bills being introduced and will fight for our 2nd rights till the end. He also added that Albano and the "new" guy (sorry forget his name at the moment) that took Milan's place are also against them all. I told him that I normally vote republican......and that is how I previously voted, but if THEY vote this way on these issues, they will have my support next time around..........he chuckled and said thank you........ Those are my representatives as well. Unfortunately, we are outnumbered by the rest of the state. Can everybody else get their representatives in check??
