Dan 177 Posted April 29, 2013 We could be up for yet another fight here in NJ. A company is looking to produce a for-retail sale "smart gun" or add-on product that is activated by reading a fingerprint. Implications in NJ could be severe being we already have laws on the books pertaining to this technology. http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9238728/Smart_gun_company_aims_to_begin_production_soon Fortunately, the way the law is written it does seem that a gun would have to be sold with this product built in, and would not cover retro-fit or aftermarket add-on technology. 2C:58-2.2 The Legislature, therefore, declares: It is within the public interest, and vital to the safety of our families and children, for New Jersey to take the bold and innovative step of fostering the development of personalized handguns by firearms manufacturers. To accomplish this objective, the Legislature determines that it should enact legislation designed to further enhance firearms safety by requiring that, within a specified period of time after the date on which these new personalized handguns are deemed to be available for retail sales purposes, no other type of handgun shall be sold or offered for sale by any registered or licensed firearms dealer in this State. b.For the purposes of this section, personalized handguns shall be deemed to be available for retail sales purposes if at least one manufacturer has delivered at least one production model of a personalized handgun to a registered or licensed wholesale or retail dealer in New Jersey or any other state. As used in this subsection, the term "production model" shall mean a handgun which is the product of a regular manufacturing process that produces multiple copies of the same handgun model, and shall not include a prototype or other unique specimen that is offered for sale. Underdog 1,593 Posted April 29, 2013 Why don't they come out with smart body armor, so I can wear that, too. Only non-felons can put it on. Or maybe a little chip that sterilizes felons so that they cannot have violent offsprings, and little repeat offenders.

wooly bugger 1 Posted April 29, 2013 I think an important amendment to that law should be that we're required to adopt personalized technology as soon as it's mandated for our LEO.
