MeanderingCuban 8 Posted August 5, 2013 One of the cool things about an ar is you could slowly build it up over time... Take them money you were going to put I to a hi point and buy a lower with a lower parts kit... And you can slowly piece it together as you can afford it... If you want to do a budget build there are always guys like me getting rid of old take off parts cheaply.... Vlad, Thanks for the advice. I guess the first thing I have to do is learn about AR's and how to build one.

alowerlevel 77 Posted August 5, 2013 Vlad, Thanks for the advice. I guess the first thing I have to do is learn about AR's and how to build one. Heres a good step by step guide http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/226782_Assemble_your_own_LOWER__UPPER__FREE_FLOAT__TRIGGER__GAS_BLOCK___Step_by_step_instructions_.html and another one http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/ Heres a good video on how to assemble a lower http://youtu.be/e1omm6jY7Gg Ar build is like Legos... Very easy This^^^ Building one is alot easier than I thought it would be, my first one took me about an hour or so to put the lower together, now I can do it in around 1/2 that time. And like I said, I built mine over about an 8 month period buying parts here and there when I had some spare cash. Started out with just a stripped lower(~$100), then a month or two later found a lower build kit on sale(~$130) then saved up for about 4-5 months and bought the upper (~$550). kman 56 Posted August 10, 2013 The hipoint carbine uses the firing pin as the ejector. So when you extract a live round, it is knocked off of the extractor by the firing pin slamming against the primer of a live round. These guns are prone to bend firing pins as a result. Not to mention the potential for out of battery explosion on unloading. When I saw this I sold mine. A bad design in my opinion.
