halbautomatisch 60 Posted October 29, 2013 Does anyone have a reference for a doctor to give a psych evaluation letter? Someone I know (and no, it's not me) needs a letter that states they are OK to own firearms because of an (overblown) issue from when they were a child. We all know that most of the people that work in this sector are not pro gun, so if anyone knows a doctor that is pro gun, who would do a letter, it would help this guy greatly. Thanks PM me if you prefer.

intercooler 41 Posted October 29, 2013 The only place to go is Institute for forensic psychology in Oakland. They do the police psych testing for the departments candidates and do these types of evals all the time. They are credible and since they do the departmental evals for new hire, they are gonna weight heavily if a positive result is in order
Tango Charlie 0 Posted October 29, 2013 I can second IFP that intercooler recommended. Since I did an eval with them my turn around time for pistols permits is within two weeks - once my references and work confirmation are turned in. It is costly but it does remove any doubts. Golf battery 1,223 Posted October 29, 2013 You guys have an awesome answer for that one. The last time this was brought up no body would touch it with a ten foot pole. Commended. Job well done
maintenanceguy 510 Posted October 29, 2013 Just curious - what does the testing cost?

deerpark 83 Posted November 3, 2013 So they would accept a doctor's note to satisfy the mental health question? Seems reasonable?
