Tactical Rifle/Shotgun Course January 25, 2014 @ Shooters

Recommended Posts

It was nice taking this class. Shorter than advertised, but we were just two. I shoot about 120 rounds of 5.56 and maybe 50 or so pistol rounds.

Drills were similar to what I did decades ago.

Kharis Sepulveda has been doing this for a while, he is safe and knows his staff.

It was great meeting Medic and sorry you guys didn't make it. Two to one ratio works great, semi private.

I couldnt make it today. My son is sick and i couldnt leave him with a sitter like this.

Ive met you before, i think i sold you a stock.

Ill see you at the class 2 coming up!

I think we have also shot together at IDPA an SJSC.

I wouldn't leave my sick son with a sitter either; your a dad that has his priorities straight.

I hope he feels better soon.

And thanks for organizing the class.

I forgot to mention. Shooters store and range are very nice. Well stocked, helpful people, clean, comfortable.

Nice classroom area and we had the smaller range, there are two, just for the class.

I'll be back during the summer, we spend time on LBI and that's a short drive from there.

i wasn't able to get out there. i run my own repair shop, and i also am my only employee. i tried like a #$% to get things cleaned up to close up shop on saturday for this. it wasn't meant to be. there was too much that HAD to be done by end of day saturday. i ended up calling bugsy, and kharis to let them know i wasn't gonna be able to make it. that was late friday afternoon.

i'm glad at least a couple of ya made it. i plan to be at the next one though.

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
