Looking for Log Home/Cabin in PA or Upstate NY...

Hello all!

 

I am looking into purchasing a vacation/get-away home in either PA or Upstate NY. Was hopping to get some pointers from people in the know.

 

I am looking for something simple and cozy 1 or 2 bd room, 1 bath, and something secluded where I can walk out the back door and setup target shooting and just enjoy the outdoors. Would really like for it to be no more than a 2 hour drive from Essex County, NJ as I would like to go up as often as I can. 

 

Really, I guess Im looking for some advice on where to look, towns/counties, etc. Also, would I be better off focusing my search in PA over NY or vise-versa? 

 

Any pointers/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thats what I figured, just wanted to make sure. Last thing i want is to live in a communist state and then have a second home in another.
