HELP! Need some value help with these oldies Win 53 & Stevens 44 1/2

I need the experts advice on value from these pics. So I can put a fair offer in.

Unfortunately these are with my brother in NC and only pics I got. He wants to sell them to a dealer to buy a modern sporting rifle. I told him hes crazy since these are family heirlooms but hes stubborn, so I told him I will make a offer and hope its higher than the dealer.

 

1st is  Winchester model 53 nickel steel 25-20 I think the serial # is high 800's

2nd is Stevens Arms Company 44 1/2 25-20 serial # is in 11k or 110K range I think

I looked these up on GB and the prices are all over the place.

 

He was told by a shop a appraisal value but I know he wont get close to that when selling them. I don't want him to sell them for a huge lose but I also don't want to over pay. So any feedback helps

Can you travel to NC to go with him and see what he's offered? Tell him you'll give him whatever the shop offers.

Gun shops would be fifty percent of value unless they got the hots for that rifle. Then theyll offer more. I dont think you could go wrong if your brother is honest with you. Why dont you ask the guys at tanners. Theyd know.

I have a ballpark what i wanna pay I will have to wait till Monday or Tuesday to talk to him again, things are a bit busy @ Lejeune atm

That Winchester is a beauty. They didn't make many in that model, so it is a nice collectible.
