Scorpio64 5,156 Posted September 29, 2014 I've done my homework on the club and understand the membership cap and waiting list situation. The club seems to be ideal for what I shoot and my experience level. What I'd really like to do is see the club first hand before I fill out any paperwork or write a check. If any member would be kind enough to guest me it will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a place to shoot my 22lr Marlin 39D and my Ruger American .243 mostly and occasionally my AR platform SPR. Any and all of which you would be more than welcomed to test drive. I have guns, I have ammo, but no place close to home to practice. All dressed up with no place to go.
Smokin .50 1,907 Posted September 29, 2014 Former member here. Maybe show-up to one of their League Shoots and take a gander at the place? High Power, Bowling Pins, Cowboy Action, Trap, it's all FUN and ya get to meet and greet... Check-out their web site for League Calendar info... Blake 50 Posted September 30, 2014 Went there as a guest once. Convenient if you live nearby but other than that was not impressed. Didn't look like it was maintained well (garbage/shells strewn about) and the whole range consists of I think 3 pits, a 100yd range, and a shotgun range. Unless I missed a whole part of it I left wondering why ppl talk so highly of the place. On the other hand its very cheap so it has that going for it. Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted September 30, 2014 We were talking about this place on Sunday. I was there once very early in the process of buying guns and finding a range. Apparently you can't draw from a holster and can't shoot steel. If someone is shooting in the pits or on the long range line you can't shoot trap, and the trap machines are single hand pulled machines. I suppose if you are looking to shoot from a bench it's fine. The OP mentioned that the range is suitable for his "experience." I'd like to point out that everyone started out as a noob once, and there is no experience required to join CJ or OB. All you are required to do is be SAFE.

When I see what people are paying for membership at similar ranges in other states it makes me want to vomit.
Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted September 30, 2014 The initial buy in fee is expensive, but then again, what isn't when we are talking about having fun. Like I suggested, for the bench type shooter it seems like a decent place. Hopefully you can get on the list and join in a reasonable period of time. It is not really like any other range in nj as far as I'm aware of. About the only thing we lack is the space to stretch you legs put on the long range more than 300. Yes the initial fee is high but the yearly membership is only 50-75 dollars a year more than most indoor ranges in the area a well as cheaper than some indoor ranges up north. Hell if you shoot a lot range 14 can be as pricey or more than CJ on a yearly basis after the initial.

Until then I'll have to shoot somewhere priced more reasonably.
