You have to read this from the Boston Globe. Especially if you've ever been a conversation where someone was demonizing anyone owning guns etc. And they didn't know it was you.

 

This letter is the antidote to that Baltimore Sun hoplophobe. There is nothing political or offensive about it. It's just a bunch of facts.

Good article.  How did the author get to carry a handgun on the trip to Boston?  I though CCW was severely restricted in Massachusetts.

Not really. You get it on the second try if you don't either get it or appeal to court on the first try. Boston is the only place that is tough, but it's not like NYC that needs its own license. Non-residents get it first try no issues. I know somebody in PA with one and there is nothing special about him.

 

Here is a funny thread on MD gun forums.

 

Summary: About a year earlier, guy plans to move from Mass to MD and is asking about gun laws. People tell him to move to VA instead. He comes to the conclusion that MD gun laws are similar, or even better.

 

One year later he announces he has finally moved to MD. Then this:

 

"It's a handgun qualification license (HQL). Only needed if/when you plan to buy a handgun here. Otherwise do nothing besides the gun registration."

 

"That will let me keep them here, but doesn't let me carry them?
