My story

Recommended Posts

I dont exactly know where this topic belongs  so I put it here.

After buying a house in Edgewater Fl I went and purchased my first hand gun, a 9 mm Beretta 92 FS inox. (stainless still)

I was amazed how simple it was to purchase. I handed them my driving license signed a few papers paid for it and a few days later (3) i went to pick it up.

A bit later i applied for ccw and I received it within 2 months     ( the state has up to 3 months to process your application )

The second gun, a 9mm Bersa Ultra Compact Pro I received it instantly as soon as I paid for it. Having a CCW allows you that. Then I bought my third gun a bersa .38. Its an easy gun to put in your pocket and just forget about it.Interesting fact is that the Argentinian gun, Bersa is imported by Eagle Imports located in NJ.

I carry  my gun mostly anywhere, and Im very comfortable with it. My wife has a CCW and we go very often  to the shooting range. When I ride around the country I look ahead for for states that reciprocate with FL and I carry my gun accordingly. If Im in a gun unfriendly state I caryy the gun according to the interstate transportation as regulated by the Feds. ( gun has to be unloaded and locked up in any part of my motorcycle) .

Why I need a gun? well I dont need it till I do.

I can tell you a few stories but will take too much time. Time ago, when the kids were little I was traveling and staying on the job for weeks at the time. My wife used to put a BUTTER knife under the pillow. LOL  Now she and I sleep without concern with a gun within reach .

Two years ago I applied in NJ for  permit to carry as a non resident ( I been having a good reason) The Hamilton  State Police has approved it and forwarded to Mercer County Superior Court.  I havent heard from  them for about a year then I filed a complaint on Judge Pereksta for failure to process my application. Within a month I have received  a CD on which another judge denied my application saying that I didnt put in the dates when the events happened ( urgent necessity) and I didnt provide a consent to check my mental health here in FL . ( the state police gave me all the forms but didnt include such a form)

There are a few bills in the house and Im pretty sure one will pass entitling me to conceal carry in NJ

Im very very disappointed with NJ legislature. Also the average people in NJ are brainwashed regarding gun laws.

Always more and more laws and it prevents nothing. Crime with illegal guns are rampant in Camden Newark Trenton etc.

Soon  a gun range will open within 5 minutes of my NJ house. Now they are trying to push a bill that you need  some other documents to be able to shoot in any range.. If you want your rights protected join NJ2SA and NRA.Peace!

If you have a resident Florida CCW you've get a better chance than those of us who live here in the PRNJ year round. This thread may be of interest to you: http://www.njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/83997-election-and-national-carry-reciprocity/

Peter, welcome to the forum.  Please tell anyone and everyone you meet in any other state about our NJ laws. Caution them that they run the same risk in their State if they are not on constant lookout for 2A everywhere.  Please, also advocate in favor of National Right to Carry.

Thank you Jack. I belong to 3 motorcycle forums and  some times we organize " ride and shoot" We go to a sponsors place and organize  range target shooting. When I spoke to the State Police in NJ   I was told the bikers are welcome in NJ to come and shoot at the range.

The problem as I see it is that they cannot sleep in NJ.   NOBODY EVEN CONSIDER COMING TO NJ WITH A GUN The state is avoided like a plague when it comes to guns. Of course if you read "NJ news" you see crime with a gun every day.

As I explained above, I bought and own my guns legally. I looked a lot at NJ legislature and its a total failure. I have a few rental houses and a business in NJ.

I can have my gun legally at any of my properties  but there is no way to transport them in there legally. You only can take the gun from the house to the place of business or range.

Also I cannot take them with me on a bus or airplane. The feds only cover car transportation Of course you can do that in all gun friendly states. Go figure

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
