What happened to the HMG Sturmgewehr

Recommended Posts

While I doubt there are 15 round magazines available, I wanted to get one of these eventually. But I don't hear anybody talking about them, or see them for sale or anything. What happened to them?

Look into Military Arms Channel on YouTube... they did a few videos on them.

Short story, they are having issues getting it to run , while keeping it accepting the original parts, and doing it in such a small company. They still seem to be working on it, but don't use previous ETAs as a measure of seeing it.

Good news... if you call it that, is they are offering different calibers and different magazine offerings. Personally, I rather the original design, but some people might like it taking AR magazines and in 5.56mm.

Yeah, I'd like it in 8mm kurz, but that's a fairly rare milsurp round compared to .303. 8mm, etc. So something offered 8n 7.62x39 would be close to the original, but without the ammo difficulties.

I really want one, but haven't seen any in the wild. I love the idea of reproducing civilian versions of cool milsurp guns that are either rare, expensive, too collectable, or NFA and as a result are difficult to shoot.

I had contacted them in Oct or Nov about ordering one. They wanted it paid in full up front for potential delivery in April. Considering they hadn't shipped any yet, I thought that was way too risky. Now I'm seeing on their site it says they won't ship any firearms to NJ...........

ATI... same people that do the GSG-5.

.22 is no fun for that. I'd like a little recoil with it. That's what's always turned me off of the ATI.

plus I'm not even sure if it uses the same mechanism, I think it just cosmetically looks like a sturmgewehr

It isn't anywhere near the same system... just like a GSG-5. It is blowback. Charging handle works the same, but like the GSG-5, bolt locks back on empty magazine. That is a good thing, especially for a .22.

Wasn't giving it as an option for you... just pointing out the brand for brucin.

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
