njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted June 21, 2018 Certainly not joisey legal per the following statute: 2C:39-1. Definitions. Definitions. The following definitions apply to this chapter and to chapter 58: c. "Destructive device" means any device, instrument or object designed to explode or produce uncontrolled combustion, including ... (3) any weapon capable of firing a projectile of a caliber greater than 60 caliber, except a shotgun or shotgun ammunition generally recognized as suitable for sporting purposes; ...The term does not include any device manufactured for the purpose of illumination, distress signaling, line-throwing, safety or similar purposes. Now, if you had a line attached to the projectile, it's no longer a destructive device. You're just trying to maintain possession of your bait!! SmittyMHS 603 Posted June 21, 2018 You saw the fishing pole didn't you? Wouldn't that qualify?
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted June 21, 2018 Just re-watched the video. Didn't see the reel spinning as the shot was fired. If they were firing a line, it's not a DD, so YES, it would be legal. Now explain that to the Fish and Game Warden!
Danno 127 Posted June 22, 2018 Spinning reels don't spinn when they are letting out line. There is no way you could use that with a casting reel.
Handyman 5,682 Posted June 22, 2018 What need does this thing address? People who are too crippled to cast? Fishing is already as boring as shizz. Casting is half the excitement.

Casting is half the excitement. Come on, don't you know anything about fishing??? The fish are wwwaaaayyyyyyy out in the middle, over 100 yards away. That's why you need this thing!! It's all about casting distance when catching fish (specially the guy firing it off the back of his boat)!! He who casts the farthest, wins!!!
SmittyMHS 603 Posted June 22, 2018 The funny thing is that when you start fishing from the shore, you cast toward the middle of the lake and wish you had a boat to get there. Then you get a boat and spend all your time cast toward the shore. Go figure.
