head spacing an sks.

Recommended Posts

Why are you headspacing it? If you just want to know if its legit to fire buy some go/no go gauges and gollow the instructions on the package to see if your rifle has excessive headspace. If you are using a surplus military rifle (Most likely what your SKS is) Then the headspace will be liberal. The makers of the Go/No go gauges have special gauges to accommodate these military standards.

the gauge set is 120.00 it has to be euro set not american standard.

the bolt was non matching and i had to file fit the bolt, I left it tight so it could be fit with a gauge.

I am seriously thinking of ordering the gauges.

I would think that any "real" smith would be able to do that. 7.62x39 isn't an uncommon cartridge (unless you're looking to buy it!). IIRC, Harry's (now Cheyenne Outfitters) did it for me when I ordered a Yugo from them several years ago.
