  1. I'm interested in the Rifle Class; August 29-30. I put in for the weekend off from work.
  2. I just planted ours on Saturday. 16 tomato plants. 16 green bean. 8 egg plant. 4 Lima bean. 4 jalapeño's. 4 green bell peppers. 4 other pepper plants. Last year we had great success with beans, tomatoes and peppers. We have tried melons without success. Our eggplants were theroughly enjoyed by Mr and Mrs Turtle, our friendly box turtles. They eat a chunk out of one and move to another, I try to convince them to eat one completely but they are liberals and are fine consuming my work without considering where it comes from. Tomato Horn Worms: fill a cup with hot soapy water and dip the worm into the cup, if it's clinging to a branch dip the branch, they quickly die and fall off. The soap kind-of breaks them down. It's gross so I use disposable cups.
  3. Buy Evan Nappen's book. http://www.evannappen.com/index.html It explains everything. Including how to make your AR's and AK's NJ legal, (Uzi is banned by name). If you can avoid it - don't move to NJ.
  4. It's great you had a good time. I have been wanting to attend one of these for years but I have yet to get off my rump and go. What did you bring? how far did you shoot?
  5. My club doesn't provide stands either. My club has rules about how high a stand must be and they provide holes at 50 and 100 yards. The holes fill in from wind, rain and jerks that shoot the PVC liner. I use a 3/4" PVC stand and that is held up by wooden dowls I hammer half way into the ground and put the pipe over the over half. It's not a rock solid design but it works.
  6. Camelback FTW. I plan on getting an Elio for daily commutes, but they are not available just yet. http://www.eliomotors.com
  7. 20 years in EMS. Off the top of my head I can think of over 100 motorcycle accidents. Maybe 15 were dead on scene, maybe another 20 with injuries that were going to kill or debilitate the rider. Very few of the crashes were the riders fault. Sign an organ donor card before getting one. I'm not anti motorcycle but in NJ there are a lot of bad drivers in big vehicles.

    Holsters

Everyone has their own opinion. Personally I like Kydex if it's an in the wasteband holster(IWB). I find I get less "pinching" when drawing and reholstering. I like leather for out wasteband holsters (OWB). I don't like paddle holsters, I think they shift too much and don't fit me well.
  9. My wife, 5y/o son and I were enjoying dinner at the Pic-A-Lilli in Shamong tonight. A DJ (Georgia from Cat Country) was raising money for St Jude hospital and asked for volunteers. It was loud and I didn't hear anything else other then "Volunteers". No one else volunteered so I stepped up. I won 2 tickets. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. To Chippendales. My wife can go without me.
  10. To reassemble you need to follow the instructions exactly. I printed out the directions, shrunk them and laminated them. I have a set in my range bag, In the case I use for my 22/45 and with my cleaning supplies. It's a great gun, shoots anything and is a ton of fun. I'd suggest using a local store before running to the Internet.
  11. 4/10 but I have never claimed to be a milsurp expert. Posted by Ron. A milsurp expert
  12. To protect from biohazards the ideal gloves are disposable. If you are wearing gloves that are being exposed to body fluids, dirt, grime, germs and contaminants; do you really want to throw them in a pocket for later use? This contaminates your pocket and anything else in your pocket. You bring it home and put it in with your kids laundry. As a paramedic I use disposable gloves and throw them away before I touch anything other then my patient or equipment. I wash my uniforms with color safe bleach and separately from the rest of the family's laundry. When my son was little my work boots lived in the car. Hepititis C can live in dried blood for over a week and hot tap water isn't hot enough to kill it.
  13. My most recent trip I brought out my Ruger 22/45. Zip22. 10/22 Take Down and my Marlin 925. I'm working on the NRA Winchester Marksmanship Qualification, one of the rimfire's, and using my Marlin. I'm a little frustraited; out of a possible 200 points I'm shooting in the 150-160 range but rarely breaking that range. Part of this is due to my crappy target stands which sway with the wind but even on a clam day I'm not shooting as well as I want to.
  14. I carry NRA instructor insurance just in case. I like to teach the "basic" class as opposed to the "first steps" classes. First Step teaches a student about one specific gun; someone buys a gun and only wants to use that gun then the first steps is the best. Basic goes over different guns. I encourage students to bring their guns if they have any but we start with my 22/45. I provide guns and ammo in the cost of my classes; but you get to decide and set your price. I enjoy teaching and getting people into the sport; I do the classroom portion at my home and use my club for the range portion so my overhead is low (materials and ammo) which keeps my class prices low. When I did the shotgun instructors class students were asked to bring different types of shotguns so we were familiarized with single shot, pump, bolt, saiga semi and traditional semi autos as well as side by side and over under. Between myself and the others we had it all covered. When I teach shotgun I only have pumps and single shots, sometimes I can borrow others from friends but I usually just use the 20ga pump for shooting. Every instructor will be a little different and every class will be a little different.
  15. BIT is Basic Instructor Training which covers the NRA methods of firearms instruction. The NRA uses a "learn, do, teach" model where students reinforce what they have learned by helping teach other students. I'm an NRA pistol and shotgun instructor; the class goes over the different types of firearms and the basics of shooting. You need to have a basic understanding at the different actions of firearms, loading and unloading and how to safely handle firearms. There is a written test and a practical evaluation. Example: when I teach a basic pistol class I use the NRA instructors guide to remind me to cover everything. We do a lot of dry fire and handling of the unloaded firearms in a classroom setting. We go to the range and practice, I teach each student then let them pair up and shoot, looking at each other and being able to see what the other is doing; all while I watch and interject when needed. I'll have to check bangers site, I want to do rifle instructor.
  16. http://www.jcwhitney.com/kleinn-horns-train-horns/p3091904.jcwx?filterid=d2171y2015g36u0j1 They don't take up a lot of room.
  17. I'm interested. I'd also like to see pics. Price range. Attachment devices. Thanks.
  18. Greetings from Swainton - Cape May County.
  19. I found a great deal on a used 995-original stock which was missing the charging handle. I spent more on the new handle, transfer fees and NICS then I did for the gun. It's a fun shooter. I've tried multiple bullet weights as well as +P ammo and have had no problems. My only complaint is the sight cheek slap when shooting, it's an easy fix though. Buy. Shoot. Enjoy.
  20. Hey gents. My buddy who teaches the class has had a few personal issues arise and will be putting this on hold for a while. Sorry.
