  1. Thanks men, for the information. To answer the question on why it's not the best gun, that's because my first choice was really a Winchester. My brother in law had a Winchester 9422 and it was just a beautiful gun. Slick action, the fit and blue finish really well done (not that the Henry is bad). It was old school bluing and it was so accurate! I just got the Henry, and right out of the box the fore stock was ever so loose. The finish on the reciver leaves a lot to be desired in my opinon. They call it an 'industrial coating" sprayed on, because they can't blue an alloy reciever. I call it Krylon. None of my freinds noticed it but when I picked the rifle up, I could feel a slight click when I set into shooting position as the stock met the feeding tube. So of course, I emailed Henry. First they said maybe the the fore stock was just loose and the gun was put together "too hastily' and to tighten the support a 1/4 turn (which I had already done). When I wrote them back, three days later I had another forestock, a barrel band and screw and an embroidered Henry Arms patch. Great service. So that's the story of the lever action plinker. Not old school fit and finish, but it's fine for what Im goingt to use it for- trying to put 15 holes in 1 aluminum can before it comes to a stop. I probably can't shoot as well at my age as the gun can anyway. Wadaya expect for less than 300 bucks? Just sayin'..
  2. Hey guys, I just bought a Henry .22 and was toying with the idea of putting a scope on her -good for about 50 yards. Does the rifle take the standard Weaver mounts for the scope or something else? Also, would anyone care to suggest a scope for this plinker? I know it's not a great gun but I always wanted a lever action and there isn't much around except a $600 Browning and I'm not paying that for a .22. The Winchesters have dried up too. Rats.
  3. Dumb question I know but...is the gun clean?
  4. I hate it when you guys use logic to overwhelm imagination. Oh well, what can you expect from someone who proofread the post at least 3 times and still spelled agree without the "a" .
  5. Shawn, I gree with you 100% and up until 3 months ago, i used to have a VHS tape of them SAYING they shot it down. When 9-11 happened, i put a tape in the recorder and taped for days on SSP (super slow speed) but my wife made me get rid of the tapes and casettes and the like as it was old platform and I threw it out. As for the Pentagon? A missile yes but a plane uh uh, I aint buyin it. Not one bit of a plane survived? Not a black box or a wheel or wing or even an outline of a wing outlined where it tore into the Pentagon? And not one single unblurry frame of tape from allllll those security cameras. Have to run my Reyolds Wrap stock is starting to rise.
  6. I have a stainless one in my 23. Love it. No problems. Got it from Glockmeister, just be sure you order a "captured" one.
  7. So what did he find out? You're a nice guy who knows what he's talking about. At least now he knows your not a nut job either. A little parnoid maybe, but a nice guy.
  8. Local fire marshals and police can confiscate your fireworks, at the very least. Penalties ...at the local level can be from $500 to $5,000. If the State presses charges under the Dept of Labor (they handle the fireworks end of the business) they will hit you with a $7,500 penalty depending on the seriousness of the charge. Just sayin.
  9. What do you get when you merge two .45 caliber pistols into one with a sleek new design? A whole lot of compact stopping power, also known as the Arsenal Firearms AF2011.
  10. Having always been a Canon fan, going all the way back to the F-1, I had a Rebel, but switched to Nikon after getting a D90 for my job,(documenting fire scenes) fell in love with that one, and bought the D5100 as a kit from Costco. They have a huge return policy (very liberal), and the camera came with both a wide angle to normal and a telephoto plus a a camera bag. All for less than a grand. i think the prices have dropped since then to about $800 and change. You won't be disappointed.
  11. I have one, had it for about a year. I love it. It's only 10% smaller than a compact Sig.The stories I heard about them having feeding problems with certain ammo, I never experienced. I used mini mags, which Sig recommends and even some old federal high velocity ammo, never a misfire, and it is very cool. Very accurate and no problems at all. I would suggest you take Sig's advice and use high velocity ammo. Plus, it fits my big brother holsters. Good luck.
  12. When I was on the Fair Lawn Pistol Team we used to shoot the Allentown, Livingston and Franklin match, and have breakfast at the Franklin diner before the shoot. There were at least 12 guys with brown shirts with crossed pistols embroidered on the back and large red letters that read FAIR LAWN PISTOL TEAM. Never had any problems. Just be sensible and abide by the law and you'll do fine.Cops know there is a pistol club or match in their town, you guys worry about the damndest things.
  13. Hudson Farms is located in my town. Everything there is tiop shelf. From laser beam activated clay throws to $100,000 custom made shotguns. They have their own on site armorer, and the scenery is to die for. At one time it was Hudson Guild where they would take underprivlidged kids and let them get a taste of farm life. It was bouught by a wealthy Wall Street tycoon, and has poured millons into the property. They even raise they own sporting birds.Really.. that place is the original "if you have to ask how much it costs...you can't afford it". Don't pass up a chance to go there if you can. Provided money is no object. BTW bring your own VO Vapen and bug spray.
  14. Never smoked cigarettes in my life, but a Drew Estates coffee infused robusto negra, are more addictive than crack.
  15. Probably click it or ticket. I know that money just shook free. If they stop every other car or every 10th car, its not profiling. Its random. they can walk around your car and look in, heck anybody can do that in a parking lot. They can write you for other safety violations they dont do at inspections anymore. Youre not being searched, they just want to see if your dumb enough to leave a joint in the ash tray where they can see it. THEN you get searched. Happy motoring.
  16. I bought mine at Dick's. Love it. Start calling around where you live. Ya never know. Did you check the vendors on the forum?I
  17. Thank you for the information gentlemen.
  18. I just sold a safe queen S&W 659 a few days ago, and was wondering the crew's opinion on the fact that I had to put my social security number as well as my SBI info on the the buyers permit. It was ok for me as I sold it to a friend, but suppose you (or I) sold it to a stranger? The purchaser may be ok but now a total stranger has both those importaant bits of information. Would the State Police come or call if I left those lines blank? One would think that in the age of identity theft, the SP would come up with a better way to ID the seller besides putting my SS number on a document that Lord knows who will see. Thoughts?
  19. I'm going into my secord year of membership and haven't made the safety meeting yet! I just cant seem to get there.
  20. I was referriing to a post from November 21st. Which started with a thread about the legality of BB guns.
  21. Through numerous posts on the forum, I keep seeing that to go to the range you should have your pistol purchase permit with you. I searched the 2C code and there is nothing that I can find that says you have to have proof with you that indicates that you bought your pistol legally. On the other hand, an old range officer once told me to carry at least a copy of the pink slip with me 'cause State police records works from Monday to Friday from 8 to 4 and If you get jammed after that you could spend the weekend in the can waiting until Monday to find out if your weapon was legally purchased. So, all of the above begs the qustion do you need to to carry some sort of proof that your gun is legally yours to go the range, and if so, where is it written? It doesnt say it on the PPP and the criminal code doesnt say it either. Also, is a copy of the PPP enough to take with you if you do need it? Id hate to lose the original "pinky".
