  1. USMC 54/57. Boot camp @ San Diego. They issued me a comb and cut off my hair. Issued a toothbrush and pulled two teeth. Issued me a jock strap and it was then I seriously considered going over the hill... Stationed in Japan and Okinawa. BAR man with 1st Battialian, 9th Marines. Loved that BAR. Last duty was as a brig guard at San Diego Naval Base. First in line for that great Navy chow. One of the smartest moves I ever made. Semper Fi
  2. Growing up in the 40's in Verona. The Victory garden out back. Chasing the ice truck to get chips in the summer. The old ice box getting upgraded to the new fangled refrigerator with the bird cage on top Milk and bread delivered from Bordens and Dugans. The cream was on the top. Mmm Debating whether Bogart could beat up Cagney. That great smell of burning the leaves in the gutter in the fall. Sunday drives in the Nash with no seat belts. Sneaking rides on the Erie boxcars up to Caldwell and back. Playing with lead soldiers in the sandbox. It was a whole different world back then.A great time to grow up. Still don't own a cell phone, never have used an ATM and absolutely refuse to "talk to the box" at Mickey D's. Just haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up....
  3. [You have a great revolver there. Bought my 19-3 about ten years ago, and will never get rid of it. The blueing is like it just came from the factory. This is my night stand HD gun. For me, I found that a set of Hogue rubber grips makes for more comfortable shooting. Mostly shoot .38 spcl and only .357 once in awhile. Enjoy.
  4. Have owned my Springfield Loaded for over five years. Not one problem. Great pistol.
  5. Many thanks for the great input.
  6. Finally got a chance to check out a CZ 75B. Very favorably impressed. Leaning in that direction. Really didn't want a "plastic" pistol", but do have to say the PX4 wasn't bad either. . Thanks.
  7. Price quotes from NJGF vendors and others ranged from a low of $621 to a high of $650, so Bullet Hole is a bit high. Still trying to decide whether to go for the PPQ or scrape a few more bucks together and go for a Browning High Power. Thanks to everyone for your responses.

    Walther PPQ

Has anyone had a chance to check out, or better yet, shoot, the new Walther PPQ. Appears to be a lot to like at a fairly reasonable price? Comments appreciated.
  10. Congratulations. Best outfit in the world. Stay safe. A/1/9 54-57

  12. Great collection. Just getting started on Milsurp. 2 Mosins and a Yugo Mauser so far. Started getting addicted to cosmoline or it could be the mineral spirits. Hopefully an Enfield or Russian SKS next.. M U S T P A C E M Y S E L F

  14. + 1 for USNMars. As a newbie getting into Milsurp, Eric has been a great help in keeping me on the straight and narrow. His advice and guidance has been invaluable. Many many thanks. Kenny

    "Wild west" rifles

I have a Winchester 94 Trapper in 357. This is the angle eject model. Its a great , reliable rifle and fun to shoot. Also you can keep your expenses down by shooting 38 specials. If you reload, you can make light target loads using 357 cases. Of course after that you have to get a six gun and then a double barrel coach gun. Then you are all set..
  19. Try checking on Gun Broker. Under bullets, put in 38 FMJ There are several people selling them. Don't know what grain bullet you are looking for, but give it a try. All the best Kenny
  20. at 59, you are an old fart??? You're just a whipper-snapper Wait til you hit 75. Of course there is 75 and then there is 75 going on 35...enjoying my toys.... All the best Kenny T
  21. How do you go about adding pictures into Marketplace ads?? Looking to place an ad and I have the pictures of what I want to sell in "My Pictures" but don't know how to get them into the ad. Can anyone help out with these new fangled contraptions?? Many thanks. Kenny T.
  22. Was wondering how best to set things up for my wife to sell my guns just in case a greyhound bus has my number on it. Previous thread indicated that she would be able to sell my rifles and shotgun with just a COE,as she is my beneficiary and would be the legal owner. To that end I am thinking about attaching blank COEs to the bill of sales and P2P for them and keeping them in the strongbox. Previous thread did not speak to handguns. What would be the best way to set her up so that she could legally sell my handguns either on NJGF or Gunbroker, etc?? She is not into guns at all and does not have an FID but I'd hate to see her sell the bunch to a dealer for 20 cents on the dollar. "A gun lovers worst nightmare is for his wife to sell his guns at the price he told her he paid for them" Thanks for your help. Kenny
