  1. The $18 for the criminal history background check is in leiu of fingerprinting. You should be good to go. Adios, Pizza Bob
  2. And Paul, correct me if I'm wrong, but "multiple" simply means more than one - so a two handgun purchase would be reported. This is the reason the BATFE came out against OGAM. They use the multiple purchase form to track potential strawman purchasers. The passage of OGAM hinders the federal enforcement effort - which is what is needed since this is an interstate problem. Can you say "irony" boys and girls? Adios, Pizza Bob
  3. Member in one way or another since the '70's. Currently, as my signature line says. Adios, Pizza Bob
  4. It's a 1957 Packard Hawk. By 1957 Studebaker had purchased Packard and the Packard Hawk was a derivative of the Studebaker Golden Hawk. Adios, Pizza Bob
  5. A friend of mine sent me the picture below. A company called N2S (No Two the Same) built this car and called it the 789 because it contained styling elements from the 1957, 58 and 59 Chevrolets. I looked at it and immediately sent him back a picture of a US produced car and said that I wondered if N2S realized that the prototype for their 789 had already been produced? Game time....post a picture of the car I sent him. I'll post it in a separate post, but no fair peeking. Here's the 789... Have fun. Adios, Pizza Bob
  6. Usual disclaimer: IANAL Not sure that keeping your IL license would be "legitimate" since it is not your primary residence. If you intend to apply for a NJ FPID card, the address on your DL must match that of your FPID card. Most states give you a 90 day grace period for changing things like your DL and vehicle registrations. If there is any question on a law's interpretation, keep in mind that NJ uses the strict definition - which means you don't have room to slide. Adios, Pizza Bob

    Hello

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have already received some good advice. Where in NJ were you considering moving? Some municipalities are far better for firearms owners than others. Adios, Pizza Bob
  8. While you are correct, Eagle Arms is a vendor, they are also the promoters of this show. This is a relatively small show @ 250 tables. Eagle arms has their large show (700 tables) at Split Rock Lodge in the Poconos in April. This Allentown show is competing with an even smaller show (100 tables) at the Schnecksville Fire Hall, up the road (Rt 309) a piece, which is produced by Appalacian Productions. There is also a MAAC show at the Oaks Convention Center (off Rt 422 NW of Valley Forge) on the same date - they're advertising 400 tables. I went to two of these shows when they first started back up (used to be in Ft Washington, but ceased in 2005). They were OK - nice wide aisles, not too crowded. But I understand the last one was a bust - not well attended. Personally I like the VF gun shows and I also can't wait for App Prom to bring a show back to the Philly Armory (it has been undergoing renovations for the past year +), if for no other reason it's close. Went to their Kings Caterer's show last weekend (250 tables) and scored ten boxes of AE 62 gr FMJ .223 for $6/box. See you at the show(s) Adios, Pizza Bob
  9. Pure speculation on my part, but since the barrel on this isn't long enough to have an underbarrel ramrod/seating lever, there must have been some type of separate tool/lever to do this. Maybe those circular indentations were used to locate one leg of the lever when seating the ball(?) Adios, Pizza Bob
  10. NJ609: If you're into high-end watches this may not interest you. But, if you're just into neat watches, this whole concept of a boutique watch company - in the USA, no less - is really cool. I bought an M9 from them and it's great. If you pre-order (2010 listing will be posted in March - check their forum for previews of the 2010 line) you save about $200 per watch. Great to deal with. Enjoy. http://www.lum-tec.com/ Adios, Pizza Bob
  11. I had to send Weidner's a copy of my FPID. Remember if you do this to redact your SS#. Weidners actually sent me a thank you for doing that, explaining they don't want to be responsible for that information. Adios, Pizza Bob
  12. My GF has expressed a desire to own a gun. To start her off down the right path I am taking her to an NRA "First Steps" class this weekend. To that end, she needs something to use for the range portion of the class. I have two suitable rimfire autoloaders - a S&W 422 / 6" and a Ruger MK I Target bull barrel 5.5". These were inherited from my father and probably hadn't been cleaned in a decade. The 422 went OK - a little tricky to disassemble (need a fired .22 case), but OK. The Ruger.....well need I say more? After downloading the owner's manual and viewing multiple You Tube files, I figured, "Looks pretty simple, how hard can it be?" Never quite got to the throw the gun against the wall stage, but it was together and apart about six times before I got it right. I was getting real good at getting the bolt retention pin through the lower receiver/bolt/upper receiver and just got way frustrated when the gun didn't work. Finally after a careful analysis of the situation - I realized the key was positioning the hammer strut in the little "pocket" on the take-down lever (Ruger calls it the mainspring housing - don't know why - no spring in it), and it worked just fine. Curious whether this is the same problem you MK II & III owners encounter with these Rugers? Or did they "improve" it Adios, Pizza Bob
  13. Trust me, you will be able to buy two guns quicker by simply buying the first and then the second one 31 days later than you ever will by making the separate step of petitioning the NJSP to allow you to exercise your rights. Just something else they can delay. In the meantime VA is taking steps to rescind their OGAM law. Adios, Pizza Bob
  14. This thread renewed my curiosity so I made a gun shop run last Saturday. Tanner's was closed (going back today). Stopped at Classic Pistol and they were packed. They had one of the Sig Two-Sum P250 gun packs - first opportunity to see and handle the sub-compact P250. A little disappointed in that it's not as small as I thought it would be. Probably better off with the compact version with better ergonomics. Then went on to Surplus city - all as described and remembered. They did have some nice wheel guns. S&W 66 2.5" / S&W 19 4" / and the one that takes the prize - a S&W 27 3.5" from the 70's (N prefix 5-digit ser #) with TT, TH and Magna stocks. Not in bad shape - pretty clean and would make a nice shooter (no box and/or papers) - $495. Not into C&R so I couldn't tell you what else they may have had of interest, but a worthwhile trip. 15. Thanks guys. That's a POF upper on a RRA lower. The forearm is POF's 11" Predator. It's a 14.5" barrel with a permanently attached brake to bring it to an NFA and NJ legal 16". The EOTech is a 512 with GG&G covers and accu-cam mount. It has Troy BUIS with an absolute co-witness. Adios, Pizza Bob
  16. I have one and I have no problem with the foam. Not saying I won't as it gets older, but I like the idea of wrapping paracord around it when it needs to be replaced. Adios, Pizza Bob
  17. I seriously thought of getting one of those, and then reality struck. No place with a long enough range (600 yards+) to make use of the round. Factory ammo about $5/round. Brass about $2/round. None of my regular presses with a large enough openings to reload this round (Rockchucker / Bonanza - now Forester - Co-Ax) - but it is really cool. I managed to persuade a friend, who lives in Wyoming and has 8K acres of land, to buy a .338LM, but he got something a little more esoteric than an AR30... It's a Desert Tactical with a Schmidt & Bender scope. I love spending other people's money - but he can afford it. Adios, Pizza Bob
  18. Aside from shooting guns, I also shoot pool. Being a packrat, I collect Brunswick Cues from the mid-60's to the mid-70's.... And an even more sedentary pastime, I collect Southwestern Pottery (primarily, but also other SW art)... Adios, Pizza Bob
  19. Haven't been in there in a while. My loss. Saw on another forum that someone found a S&W no-lock 696 for $450 out the door - real sorry I missed that one. Interesting place - characterized pretty accurately by the above posts. Adios, Pizza Bob
  20. Just got two PPP's renewed at out local PD (Hopewell Twp. / Mercer County) and specifically asked the detective (whom I have come to know quite well, since I'm in there so often ) if they were now outsourcing fingerprinting. He emphatically stated no and that they had not received any directive about doing so. They do have electronic printing - so maybe this is just for departments that don't have that capability??? Or is it the usual gov't inefficiency in getting the word out?? I am still continually amazed at the differences in procedures among municipalities in this state. Chad said they needed to fingerprint for a replacement FPID card. My PD only requires filling out an ST-3 and a criminal background check (SB212 I believe - $18) with no fee for the card itself. I've gotten involved in this whole mess because my GF told me that she wants to buy a gun (watch for porcine droppings from the sky). I've been shooting since we've been together (almost 23 years) and have never been able to convince her. She goes to FL for a few days before Christmas, meets a friend of a friend who is a retired NYPD Captain and all of a sudden she wants to buy a gun - don't know what he said to her, but my hat's off to him. Adios, Pizza Bob
  21. Wolfy, even that is not 100% correct. M855 ammo (5.56x45 green tip, 62 gr) has a steel "penetrator" core, but it is NOT considered armor piercing by the BATFE. It may be by Brick Armory standards (based on the back-stop material), so I'd check before using it there, but by the strict legal definition it is not. Just love to split those hairs Adios, Pizza Bob
  22. Lunker: I have one of each. I have a Cooper in .17HMR and an Anschutz in .17HM2 - both are about as much fun as you can have sitting down. You pretty much nailed the issues for making a choice. The cost of .17HM2 ammo is usually less than half the cost of .17HMR. I have purchased Eley .17HM2 several times at $3.99/50 from Champion and Natchez. .17HMR usually runs $11.99 - $13.99/50. As you pointed out - not sure if the .17HM2 is going to be around for long. It wasn't the commercial success that the hummer was and many mfg's are phasing out their guns chambered in that round. If you opt for the Mach2 and it disappears, you can always have it bored out to a .22LR. I just wait until I see an ad for cheap Mach2 ammo and stock-up. They are both very susceptible to wind drift, since they both use, predominantly 17 gr bullets. There are some 20 gr bullets for the hummer, but my HMR seems to prefer the 17's. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite between my two .17's. The Cooper is definitely a nicer rifle (and was considerably more money), but when it comes to "fun factor" they are equal. If you get something, post it to the board. Adios, Pizza Bob
  23. Mike: Thanks! They are indeed pricey, but there is nothing else like it. Some may argue for the PM9, but A) It's polymer; and, B) I think you have about a 50/50 chance of getting one with no problems. Until I win the lottery, this is all moot. Thanks again. Adios, Pizza Bob
  24. Thanks Mike. Don't go to any trouble....this is still at the imagine and fondle stage. #1 priority is to get a job - been unemployed since July. 35+ years in the automotive/commercial vehicle industry has come down to this. Yes, I would like some cheese with my whine. Adios, Pizza Bob
  25. The EOTech 512 will absolute co-witness (I believe there are others also, but I speak from personal experience with the 512), either with the stock screw mount or with GG&G's QR mount. HTH. Adios, Pizza Bob
