  1. Yep, definitely worthwhile. I root all of my Android devices. Gives you complete control over what to do with the platform (as it should since it's YOUR hardware!). In addition to all of the cool apps you can then install and use, i.e. tethering, backup, and endless other "tweaks", you are also get a choice of your favorite ROMs to run. Maybe nice open source ones out there that get rid of the bloat that usually comes preloaded on phones from your service provider. Like someone else mentioned, xda-developers forum is the place to get the latest and greatest bits and info.
  2. And to think just last year, the President of Mexico was calling for the US to impose tougher gun restrictions on civilians. "Hey guys, disarms yourselves and things will get better..." yeah right...
  3. NYPDs lists 3 duty sidearms for their officers: Glock 19, Sig P226 DAO, or S&W 5946 (which is the DAO variant of the 5906 minus the mag disconnect). Duty load is 9mm +P 124 gr Speer Gold Dots.
  4. @silverking - thanks for the great reply. Being a P228, this has the folded carbon slide. I was surprised to feel a bit of a high spot on the frame rail where I see the wear. So I'll just let it wear in with time. I brought this used and was surprised on how perfect the rails were - no markings at all. Previous owner must've had < 100 rounds through her.
  5. I'll take it. PM inbound.
  6. Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep an eye out for further changes. I think Shane is right in that its high spot wear. When I run my finger over the edge of that rail it feels like its got a bit of an edge, while the other side is smooth.
  7. Shot about 100 of my standard factory loads through my Sig P228 the other day. While going through my standard, post-range session cleaning, I was surprised, as I've always run my gun wet with high quality grease on the rails, to see the following wear/gouging on the left side frame rail and slide. The other rail doesn't have any wear on it. I think this is an example of galling and was wondering if this was normal on Sigs or not. Should I be worried or just keep shooting the hell out of it? Here are some photos: Wear on Slide
  8. Jon, how are the prices at Efingers of late? I stopped going there due to the crazy prices they had on their firearms. Recently, I heard from someone that their prices were adjusted and they are a lot more competitive.
  9. Do it! simple parts swap and voila, your mags drop free.
  10. My CZ 75B (2008 production) did *not* have drop-free mags. They used to come installed with a magazine brake to help aid with mag retention (CZ police requirements back in the day). You can replace the mag brack with a smooth, stainless version which allows the mags to drop free. It's available online from CZ Custom. With the stock brake my mags wouldn't drop free, regardless of the grips I had installed on it. With the upgraded stainless mag brake, they drop free.
  11. Do you have pics you can attach of the actual gun?
  12. Looks like a Glock mated with a Walther P99...I haven't seen one in person in any of the shops I frequent though. Seems like a small time operation so, I'd be concerned about parts availability and longevity. IMHO, you're better off with one of the better established plastic fantastics. I don't see what this gun features that glock/s&w/walther already don't offer in a striker fired, plastic gun.

    All Metal BUG?

S&W Chief's Special in 9mm would fit the bill here quite nicely. There just happens to be one for sale in the Marketplace too: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/37292-sw-chiefs-special-9mm-for-sale/
  14. t No need to pay FFL fees. You can ship a gun to a manufacturer/gunsmith for work or repair on a firearm you own legally without the involvement of an FFL. They can even mail it back to you. You'll need to use FedEx to do it though and it's not very cheap as it needs to be overnighted and I'm sure you'd like to insure it.
  15. No, P-series mags will not fit in the SP2022.
  16. Have him become a premier member and post it in the Marketplace. I'm sure he'll get takers at that price. I think it's priced well to move quick.
  17. Awesome! I was visiting my parents in Bridgewater and eating dinner on their deck when two squadrons of 3 planes came in towards the Somerset County Airport in a really tight formation. Seeing that and hearing the rumble of the engines was awesome!

    All Metal BUG?

How about looking to used guns? S&W used to make the 3913 (single stack w/ 3.5" barrel) and Chief's Special (single-stack with 3.0" barrel) both models in 9mm and these were sweet, all metal BUGs. The CS9 is harder to find, but you can readily find a nice 3913 for < $500 on gunbroker. Or look to the S&W 3953 which is the DAO variant of the 3913. Both would be great for a BUG match!
  19. American Eagle is very good bulk ammo. Clean, accurate, reliable, easy to get and for the price point (~$12 / box), you probably won't find anything better. I'd be really surprised if your Ruger didn't eat it up.
  20. You have any pics of the gun? If you post them here, I'm sure the experts here will have it ID'd for you in no time!
  21. I think you answered your own question Life's too short to own guns you don't like to shoot, unless of course it's a collectible, which a Sig P250 will never be! As far as a trade, it's just like you guys purchasing the gun from one another for $0. You need a valid P2P, FID, and matching license. You fill out the "Block A" section on the P2P and send the copies to the appropriate agencies - it's all on the permit. Good luck!
  22. List of US made KA-BARs: http://www.kabar.com/knives/us-made For the legal part of the discussion, look here: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/31675-legality-of-carry-knives-in-nj/
  23. From NJ.com: http://www.nj.com/ne...reassigned.html Thoughts are, the Tropper either a) had his weapon stolen or b) lost it and doesn't want to admit it...oops! Not a good time for this negative press coverage for the NJSP! Stay safe!
  24. Go to Heritage Guild this weekend as S&W will be there holding a S&W day on Fri May 18 & Sat May 19. From the email flyer I received: http://www.heritageg...sson-Email.aspx
