  1. Good luck, I am very jealous! Put in for a suppressor as soon as you can, that is the first thing I want when I get the hell out of here.
  2. Ouch didn't realize that the shipping was that high. Still a high quality mat if you are ordering anyway.
  3. Yes, Happy and healthy to all.
  4. Midway has some good deals. http://www.midwayusa.com/black-friday-sale The pro shooting mat is excellent especially at that price.
  5. It is roughly at 45 MOA drop at that point and the bullet is traveling just under 1200 FPS. The bolt gun is dropping about 36 MOA and traveling about 80 FPS faster. The bolt has over 600 lbs. of energy and the gasser has over 500 lbs. of energy. Might be more of a rainbow, but still will hit hard. Edit that is with 175 Sierra MK handloads.
  6. When I was buying my Larue OBR years ago I was pondering the same thing. I called and spoke to their tech department and told them that I wanted to use this in a long range shooting course out to 1000+ yards. He said they would all get me there and that the 16 inch was holding better then 3/4 MOA at that distance. The velocity difference between that gun and my 24 inch bolt is less then 200 fps. I have the Surefire break on mine in the hopes of one day living in a free state so I can get a can.
  7. Try TJ Sporting Arms, he is a forum vendor and does compliance work. His # is 732-330-3652.
  8. Here is a bag from Larue Tactical that fits your needs http://www.laruetactical.com/covert-rifle-case-mkII I have my red dot and irons at 50 yds. and hits 1" high at 200 yds. with my handloads.
  9. Dan from precision firearms. http://coatyourgun.com/cerakote.html He is in Edison. He had it ready for me in 2 days. The gun was tight to begin with, but is super tight now. Not affecting function and I am sure it will wear in.
  10. Very nice, I am very happy with my STI that I got cerekoated. Only 50 rounds through it so far but finish is holding up. The guy who did it said it will wear in the normal places after a while.
  11. Just checked the website for the club and nothing is listed on it. Can't imagine that they would put in a mag limit greater then what even the politicians wanted.
  12. If you do not want to change anything on your rifle the only FF rail I was able to find is the DD Omega rail. I put one on a few weeks ago, it is rock solid and I am very happy with it. All of the others that I found required some modification to the weapon. It took about ten minutes to install. Don't know about the lightest but was very quick and easy and DD quality.
  13. Very nice Eric, you have the nicest guns. So much history in them. Which is your favorite and why?

    STI Lawman

Ty this is a great pistol, very tight and smooth. The guy who did the coating was surprised by how tight the fit was. she shoots great too, very accurate.

    STI Lawman

About 1 1/2 years ago my wife wanted to do something special for my birthday. She knew how much I love 1911's so she wanted to buy me one. We decided on an STI Lawman. It is such a sweet shooting gun, I was immediately impressed with it. But after breaking it down for cleaning I noticed that the blue finish had a cloudiness to it. I contacted STI who said that they had an issue with there bluing tank and would refinish it for me. I got it back and it was much better, but I was never really satisfied. I decided that I was going to have it coated, and I love the way the Colt Marine pistol looked so I had it done up in FDE with black accents. I am very happy with the way it looks now. It was done by Precision Firearms Coatings in Edison. Turnaround time was two days. Here are the before and after shoots.
  18. I have been using hand loaded Sierra 175's out of my 16" OBR. The muzzle velocity is around 2400+ fps. With a 100 yard zero, my bullet drops just under 17 inches at 300. Federal Gold Medal in 175's was giving me the same performance as my hand loads. Out to 300 yards 168's will give you a little better performance, out past that is where the 175's start to shine. I went with the 175's cause I only wanted to develop one load and stick with it. By the way the barrel of my OBR is 1 in 11.25 twist, so you will need to take that into account.
  19. If you want to meet up just let me know. Anything can be happening, maybe moving cheek weld, not following thru, or flinching. Each will throw you groups of much more at 100 then at 25.
  20. Guess that's why you sold it to me . I shoot the 17 better then the 03, maybe it is just me but it seems smoother. Of course nothing tops the Garands.
  21. Can a mod please tell me what happened to a thread I started yesterday afternoon regarding someone getting arrested at JFK for checking a loaded rifle? It seems to have disappeared. Thanks
  22. Have you tried taking yourself out of the equation? I have a lead sled i would be willing to lend you or you can meet me at CJ and use it there.
  23. Equipment always matters. I always hope to be the short end of the stick when it comes to my gear. I hope that if anything fails it would be me. Then I only have myself to blame.
