  1. Congrats. Enjoy every minute with him. They grow up fast
  2. Don't think this was posted before. Quite a shot
  3. I miss going. Used to go every year. There is nothing...absolutely nothing like watching and smelling the nitro cars. If I went home without reeking of nitro fumes, I was disappointed. I liked standing in the pits when they would fire 'em up to check 'em after the rebuild. Used to get a good dose of fumes that way. Wish somebody would make an air 'freshener' that smelled like nitro fumes. BTW.... I'm jealous of the suite view.
  4. Waiting on a single P2P. I'm on week 7 and my PD is usually much faster.
  5. Thanks. I've had it for twenty years. 64K original miles. Very little restoration, just detail stuff
  6. I read this earlier on Facebook. I won't be shopping there anymore. Wish we could get a nationwide boycott started.
  7. This is supposed to be a picture taken this morning at Strawberry Lake near the Moorestown Mall
  8. I sent these concerns to all legislators in the Senate and Assembly. As of this morning, I had only one real response and that was from Assemblyman Cryan. He said "Good point If it comes back to us in the assembly I'll raise it" Didn't expect that one. Got another response today from Assemblyman Giblin: Thank you for your most informative correspondence regarding Senate Bill S2723 which revises statutes concerning firearms purchaser identification cards and handgun purchase permits and makes handgun purchase permits valid for four years. It has provided me with some interesting insight. This bill passed in the Senate on May 30. I have not had the opportunity to thoroughly review all the provisions of this legislation; however, I will certainly give serious consideration to your ideas and concerns when it is presented to the Assembly for a final vote. I appreciate your having shared your concerns with me. Your views will receive every consideration. I hope that you will continue to keep me apprised of any suggestions or comments you may have on the critical issues facing our State. Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin 34th District 1333 Broad Street Clifton, NJ 07013 973.779.3125 Fax: 973.779.3156 [email protected] I don't expect anything will change but ya gotta keep tryin'.
  9. I can't help thinking about all those stories that you hear about someone getting their credit card info getting stolen. I'm not familiar with all the techniques they use, but I thought I read that they can be standing near you and electronically 'steal' the info. Not sure if that's true or not. I do know that there are card readers that can be 'palmed' and they will read magnetic strips by adeptly swiping the card. Now, I know I'm asked for my picture id (my DL) a lot more than I get asked to see my FID. When I show my FID, I'm pretty confident that the person who asks for it, isn't going to steal any info for any illegal purpose. However, when I show my DL, I may not know the person that I hand it to. Suppose they steal the info on the strip and sell it to somebody engaged in cyber crime? Could be a pretty lucrative business. Maybe this is 'reaching' a bit but cyber crime is big business. I like needing my current DL and FID. Just doesn't seem like there is as much chance of criminal theft.
  10. Welcome, glad to have you here. Nice collection!
  11. I wanted a S&W Shield 9mm for a long time. I put my name on a list back in November and finally got one in April. Now, if I can just get my permit approved and then wait another 2-3 weeks for my NICS, I'll actually have one in hand.
  12. I posted this once before. This was taken in the Port Elizabeth area (Cumberland County). The one in the middle is obvious, a second to the left and maybe one or two more (cubs?) to the right. Pic was taken from a game camera. The husband of one of my wife's co-workers had placed the camera where he hunts.
  13. I answered it with this: I can hear the criminals now...."oh no...I can only have 10 bullets?! Shucks!". Seriously, the idea of limiting magazine size is so very abitrary. Policeone.com did a poll of over 15,000 police officers. One of the questions regarding magazine size had a whopping 96% response that reducing magazine size would not reduce crime. Anyone who wants to comment on gun control should read the survey here: http://www.policeone.com/police-products/firearms/articles/6188462-PoliceOnes-2013-Gun-Policy-Law-Enforcement-Survey-Results-Executive-Summary/ Lots of people like to quote surveys and polls. Few have any real relevance when you consider the size of the sampling or the people surveyed. The Policeone.com poll is far more significant. Police deal with crime on a day to day basis. I think they know what they're talking about. I'm not talking about Police Chiefs who may have politics to deal with, but front line cops. Something else to consider. If limiting magazine size puts a criminal at disadvantage when reloading (it doesn't but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt) then consider a homeowner or a business man facing a home invasion or a robbery. In a home invasion, there are almost always multiple perpetrators. Assuming that each perpetrator had a legal 10 round magazine in their guns and the homeowner had a legal 10 round magazine, who's at a disadvantage? The homeowner would be in an already highly stressful position with half the capability to fight back and would be the one who had to change magazines. Do you think that's 'fair' to the homeowner defending his family? Consider that home invasions occur far more frequently than mass shootings. Let's make sure the laws are properly focused. We would be far better off to have more severe penalties for crimes with guns, less lenient judges, prosecutors who take criminals to trial and don't plea bargain, take away the parole leniency, and take steps to make schools safer. I hope you read and consider my comments carefully.
  14. I've heard the rumors before but I'm a skeptic that anything will be done. There was a posting on Facebook from NJ2AS (Frank Fiamingo) today: ** NJ MAY MOVE TO THE E-CHECK SYSTEM FOR NICS!!! The rumor is that New Jersey will be moving to the E-Check system of obtaining NICS releases for firearms purchases. If this is true, the New Jersey State Police will no longer be a Point of Contact (POC) for NICS checks. This means that FFLs will be able to do their OWN NICS checks via the Internet. My wife's new Sig

Sig P226 is my number one gun. I bought it as .22 and then got a 9mm xchange kit. I like all my guns but the Sig is the special one. I did add the Sigpower mods some time ago. I still get an occasional FTE when shooting the .22 and I clean it after each trip to the range. Still fun, though. I only shoot CCI Mini-Mags in it but I'd like to try some Aguila when I can get some. Never had any issue at all with the 9mm. I hope she gets as much pleasure from that Sig as I do from mine.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good people here.
  17. I can just offer my experience. I have a Sig P226 with both the 9mm slide/mag and the .22 slide/mag. I usually shoot the .22 first and then the 9mm. I enjoy shooting both. Maybe enjoy the .22 a little more actually. I'm not sure if that's because I'm just a cheapskate and like the cost of the.22 vs 9mm. My point is that a conversion does make it nice.
  18. Nicely done. I would urge you to publish this in whatever media will do so. Also worth sending to politicians. I realize that such efforts will be difficult, at best, to change anyone's mind but we must keep trying. We can't let up!
  19. So if they are so swamped with work and can't hire anyone, how are they gonna deal with the proposed changes to the FID?
  20. I see Beretta has a new .380 that's supposed to be on the market in July or August. Modeled after the Nano, it's nice to see that listened to a common complaint about the Nano not having a slide lock. The Pico has the slide lock and it appears to have a steel guide rod which many owners replace with an aftermarket rod. Still gotta get a steel guide rod for my Nano although I can't say I've had problems with it. Looks like the Pico is a nice pocket gun.
  21. I've used the defensive argument in my letters. With things like: -Home invasions happen every single day in towns across New Jersey, far more frequently than mass shootings occur. -Australia has seen a huge spike in home invasions since their gun control laws were enacted -Most anti gun people use arguments that a shooter could be stopped, or victims could run away, when the shooter is reloading. What about the person defending their home in a home invasion? If that person faced a typical home invasion, there would be multiple perpetrators. Facing two armed criminals the homeowner is automatically at a disadvantage and would be vulnerable when he or she was forced to reload. The lower the magazine size for the homeowner, the risk increases exponentially. If one assumes the criminal has an illegal magazine the risk is even greater. Shouldn't the homeowner, defending, his family get more consideration than having an arbitrary limit on magazine size? - A Police1.com poll of 15,000 police officers recently showed that a whopping 96% of respondents feel that magazine size will not reduce gun violence. Next to some of the polls that the media likes to use, that's a pretty substantial sampling and an overwhelming percentage. I know you've all seen these arguments. Just sharing what I've used. What would you folks think about a thread where we could share our letter writing points?
