  1. Just HAD to rub it in, didn't you, Ty??!! LOL Seriously, NICE rifle!
  2. Here it is: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/49840-pined-stock-question/page-2
  3. Have a look at page two of this thread: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/49840-pined-stock-question/page-3#entry758497
  4. I can nether confirm nor deny if a large raccoon in my yard met his demise via crossbow.....
  5. Personally, I go with mil spec triggers (such as in DD LPK's). After 500-1000 rounds, they smooth out nicely. They will never be as smooth as a custom trigger, but they are reliable. My Colt triggers started out gritty and rough, but after shooting them awhile, they get damn nice.
  6. If it were me if get a Daniel Defense LPK and call it a day. They are about $100.
  7. Midwest PX is absolutely correct, too heavy of a buffer can cause cycling issues and shirt stroking. My offer stands, if you need it, please let me know.
  8. OP, If you need a carbine buffer I have one I'll give you. Let me know if it will help.
  9. I use the Tactical Link convertable slings. Sometimes, single point slings are handy to have, but most times I prefer a 2 point sling. The convertable slings allow you to switch between 1 and 2 point.
  10. OP, I hope you were taken care of, if not, I am in the Woodlands, Tx this week. That is a north of Houston. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
  11. If you are into piston 7.62 rifles, POF makes some of the most highly regarded in the industry. Color is subjective. My firearms aren't going to the prom, so plain black works just fine for me.
  12. Previous to yours, the only billet lowers I have liked are from Mega Machine and Tool. Quite sure they are all functionally good to go, but I think they are visually butt ugly....Mega and Midwest PX excluded.
  13. I've never been a fan of billet lowers, but that one is pretty cool!!
  14. Because I'm too stupid to upload pics from my phone, try this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l3key1zzjfzba5y/Photo%20Feb%2028%2C%2011%2031%2007.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/a0w7062segclcz2/Photo%20Feb%2028%2C%2011%2038%2031.jpg
  15. The big brown truck of happiness showed up today with my new SRS. A quick call to Trijicon with the serial number verified that this is neither a factory refurbished unit, or is it in the serial number range that were reported to have coating issues with the optic. I was very skeptical of this deal with Botach Tactical after all the bad press they have received over many internet gun forums, but I have to admit, they delivered a genuine Trijicon SRS at an incredibly low price. The SRS is now mounted on my 'spare' Colt 6940. Can't wait to get a little range time to sight it in.
  16. What area of Houston?? I'll be there Monday, let me know if I can find one for you.
  17. Oh holy crap that had to hurt!!!! I bet he won't do that twice.
  18. Rutgers, I never made the statement that Colt was 'the best out there'. Don't mince my words. I simply said that Colt can prove that they meet or exceed minimum specifications as set by the .mil and the TDP. There are many companies that claim to meet/exceed the spec, but how many can prove it? Don't let me stop you from having your 'Colt sucks' pity party. You go, girl!! Facts don't cease to exist simply because they are ignored.
  19. I apologize for taking this thread in a drastic new direction, but I wanted to update it a bit regarding the Trijicon SRS deal from Botach Tactical posted earlier. Blake posted a link to a 'too good to be true' deal on an SRS earlier in the thread, advertising it for $599. That's a KILLER deal, if it's true. Although I've also heard the numerous horror stories about Botach, I went ahead and ordered one. A day later, I received a couple of emails from Botach, because my CC info was incorrect (apparently I dumb-thumbed a number), so after re-verifying my info, my SRS is supposed to ship today. So far, dealing with them has not been a horrible experience, as many others have had. We shall see..... I have heard rumors, but haven't confirmed them, that these SRS units Botach is selling are factory Trijicon refurbished units. I will verify when I receive it with Trijicon. Should this be the case, it's not that much of a problem for me, as the rifle it will be attached to is a range rifle, not for HD. In any case, Trijicon's factory warranty is excellent should there be a problem with the optic. I'll update this thread once I receive the SRS. Very interested in this optic, and how it compares to the offerings from AimPoint.
  20. I've been traveling quite a bit for business lately, and have made a few trips back to the ranch in Tx. My wife started a small business as well, so spent a lot of time helping her get situated. Last year was very busy! Depending on the weather (wow, it's been a VERY snowy winter!), I may see you out there fri or sat. I've been itching for some trigger time.
  21. Sure bet I was gonna open my redneck mouth!!
  22. Good deal!! Building an AR isn't 'rocket surgery' by any stretch of the imagination. Good looking budget build!
  23. I'd be willing to bet that there have been more rounds put downrange through a Colt AR (peacetime, or otherwise) than all other AR mfgs combined. Colt has nearly 50 years of building AR's for the US military, and military/police units all over the world, I'd say that is a VERY safe bet. I'm not saying that Colt is perfect, they are not. No mfg, is perfect. They have been known to put out a lemon from time to time. Statistics of manufacturing. Colt is the 'bare minimum acceptable standard for a hard use firearm'. Maybe it is one way to look at it, however, Colt can PROVE it MEETS the standard. How many AR mfg's can PROVE they MEET the 'minimum acceptable standard', much less exceed it. It's one thing to claim it, it's quite another to prove it. Put up or shut up.
  24. I stock and shoot M193 and M855, from Federal, IMI, and PMC for my standard 'everyday' ammo. Out to about 300 yards the M193 works well enough. I find that from 300-600, the M855 is a little more consistent, although it is nowhere even close to being 'match' ammunition. I shoot Black Hills 77 gr SMK's for longer range, higher precision shooting.
