1. What comes into play more, is not what FOPA says, but if NJ will give a shit about it. Supremacy Clause be damned. After that, it depends how much money you'd like to spend on lawyers to get yourself out of trouble. Plenty of people have been wrongfully violated in places like MA, NYC, etc. when just passing through and had to spend a pretty penny getting themselves out of trouble (and never even got the gun back). Sometimes, proving your innocence ($$$$$) may as well be the punishment.
2. No, it doesn't. FOPA protects you only under certain circumstances, such as transporting from your house to a vacation home in NC, etc. NJ law only allows you to transport a handgun under certain circumstances, as stated above. None of which involve bringing it to another state to carry it for self defense. Beat the dead horse all you want, but if you get stopped with a handgun 10 feet from the border and you tell the cop "well I'm going shopping in King of Prussia and figured I'd CCW while there" you will find yourself in a metric fuckton of legal trouble if the cop calls you on it. It's like this in a few other places too. Some states and cities have been getting away with violating even FOPA for years, such as NYC, MA. It's all a moot point anyway. I'm not sure what idiot would tell the cop anything besides "I'm on the way to a gun range" or "I'm on the way to my friend's house to spend the night"
3. Nope. They're going to PA to: have a good meal see a show visit the historic battlegrounds visit friends with a farm take a lesson in hog slaughtering see three mile island make a pilgrimage to Cabela's etc. But they're not going for the sole purpose of carrying a gun just to see how it feels. Actually, none of those things listed are legal purposes either. Plain and simple, if you have a gun in the car, locked and unloaded, Florida CCW in pocket, headed to see a historical sight and figured you'd CCW while there, you are commiting a crime. If you were stopped by a cop and it is discovered you have a gun, you better damn sure say you're headed to a gun range (under NJ law) or transporting to a friend's house (Under FOPA protection) otherwise you are committing a crime. NJ law allows you to transport handguns only to and from a shooting range, gun shop for repair, home from a gun shop when you bought it, etc.
4. CCW is not listed as a legal purpose in NJ, and so transporting a gun to a different state solely to CCW it is illegal.
5. Hmmm.. I wonder if those work in a Saiga 5.45. I may have to buy one and try it out Yes, they will. Unfortunately, Century charges $27 S&H.....
6. 15 Round Bulgarian 5.45 magazines. Body, follower, and spring resized for 15 rounds.
7. Um, that makes you a perfect candidate. Self defense is a VERY real need.
8. The permit has to be approved at the local, state, and county level. So for example your chief could approve it, and the state could say no.
9. Well, at least the po po get to defend themselves in NJ. Too bad he didn't carjack an average joe. The dirtbag would be driving around in a brand new stolen car right now and some spare cash.
10. NICS is open 17 hours a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year, closed only on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, NJ does not use the federal NICS system. This state uses its own state run system which, surprise surprise, does not have those great hours and is not open on Sundays. NJ's system is open 13 hours a day M-F and Saturday from 10 to 5, and is closed for a slew of all the typical holidays such as Veteran's Day, Columbus Day, etc.
11. If a driver with FID is driving a vehicle where it is all one compartment such as a hatchback car or SUV, would it be legal to put a handgun and a rifle, both with a gun lock through them, in a zipped closed soft range bag, that the zippers are just ropes (not the metal kind that can take little travel locks) but are zipped closed and tied together in the zipped closed position, and ammo in a completely separate unlocked box (army surplus ammo box), would that be a legal way to transport directly to and from the range?
12. Great gun, but you will most likely regret not getting a 9x18 one Right now the cheapest I'm seeing .380 is .41c/round shipped, vs. 9x18 ar .20c/round shipped!

AR pistol build

You cannot use a rifle lower for a pistol build (without an SBR stamp) but you can use a pistol lower, or a virgin lower, for a pistol build. If the receiver is transferred on the 4473 as Pistol or Receiver you're good to go. From a Receiver transferred lower you can build a rifle or pistol.
14. Or if your gun looks scary, or the officer has no clue what the gun laws are, etc.

Makarov 9x18

How would you say the recoil compares to 9x19? I'd say it's about the same. They are both easy calibers to control.
16. I say the same thing all the time. I see people "oh I don't care about getting stopped because my gun is legal" as if there aren't cops out there completely unaware of the law that will arrest you, confiscate your rifle, and tow your car on the spot upon seeing the scary looking "assault weapon" (remember kids, anything semi auto is an assault weapon, always) If you really think every officer out there knows the visual difference between a flash suppressor and a muzzle brake, or understands that your stock is pinned...LOL@you. Yeah sure, you may get off scot free after court. But you're out $10k in legal fees. Oh and another $1k for the gun you'll never get back. Sometimes, the lengths you have to go through to prove your innocence may as well be the punishment itself.

Makarov 9x18

Have to disagree with that. I have an '84 Bulgarian, early import as well (no electric pencil markings on slide, all on frame and inconspicuous) and it is a great pistol. I'm sure there are some poor examples out there but I have seen many nice Bulgarians. As for recoil, many say it is rough but I actually find the Makarov to be very tame. Maybe because I usually shoot .45/357. But I find 9x18 very mild and easy to control. For $200, you can't go wrong with a Makarov.
18. Now that the second amendment has also been incorporated, you could certainly mount a vigorous challenge to some of the bullshit cops in NJ pull. It's great to see cops like this sheriff get put in his place! Protect and serve, buddy. PS have fun in school. Billy Madison comes to mind With the second amendment incorporated, this challenge would likely go the same way in NJ as well.
19. Ya because every gang banger could be doing roll by's with them Yeah but why would they do a roll-by with that thing when they could do a run-by bayonetting?
