  1. Gunforhire or MDTS. I have no experience with neither but I am in the same position as you are. I signed up for a 60min pickapistol, shootasmuchasyouwant class with Gunforhire so if that goes well and the staff is friendly and professional, I plan on signing up for some defensive pistol and shotgun classes.
  2. There are not many differences between the 500 and 88, the few being that the 500 has the tang safety while the 88 has the crossbolt safety (I prefer). Some parts for the 88 are made in Mexico but the guns are assembled in Texas. I've also heard that Mav 88 barrels are thicker than 500 barrels (factory I guess?) and yes, the Mav 88 can interchange 500 barrels. Both guns can interchange most parts. For the substantial price difference between each (Mav 88 usually around $200 while the 500 is around $350), and seeing how much of a beating the 88 can take (through my shooting and testing), I would go with the 88 but it's all up to you. Both shotguns are great shooting guns nonetheless and will run forever with a simple cleaning.
  3. Aim has 147gr Russian as well, dirt cheap at a little over $3 a box. Bought some a couple a days ago for a friends christmas present. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=A76254R&name=Russian+7.62x54R+147grn+FMJ+440rd+Can&groupid=40
  4. I love shotguns. Most of mine are dedicated to either clay shooting, target shooting, and one for a secondary HD. Comparing a 9mm carbine to a shotgun is oranges to apples, but I will say a shotgun is SO much fun to target shoot with and also use for HD. It's easy to take off a 28in for clays and throw on a 18.5in HD barrel. It's also interesting patterning different loads of buck or shot or whatever, I find shooting buckshot as one of the funnest things to do at the range. You have so many options, but I would highly suggest (and agree with Flyersfan) that the Mav 88 is a great all around [shot]gun. Mine easily has over 10k rounds through it and the slide, trigger, and internals have run SO smooth from day one that it's incredible, I absolutely love it. It is definitely in my top 3 favorite guns I own. As for a 9mm carbine, I have my eye on the Storm but that is about double your price range. I am unfamiliar with the Kel-tec and Hi-point, so I can't speak for them.
  5. He now should probably take some defensive firearms training classes to train for stressful conditions. I was more interested in the article entitled "2010 Best Lingerie Images" haha. Edit: I was a bit upset with those pics, the women weren't what I think is 'best of year' material.
  6. Follow the strict rules for possessing, transporting, and using HP's and your good to go.
  7. I hopped on that Am Eagle sale, I've been shooting that for years and it is great target ammo.
  8. I got a nice $120 Woolrich shirt for about $60 last year. There are definitely some good discounts, but mostly in clothing and footwear. The spend $100 get $20 off is a good one too.
  9. If I owned a lot of handguns I would apply, but that is pretty much the only thing it's good for unless you have scoped rifles for use in those crappy tunnels.
  10. Yeah I know. It's not really a paranoia, I just don't think it matters why anyone needs to know the amount I purchase. I pay cash frequently anyway, but thanks!
  11. I carry it whenever I have ammo or guns in the car. It's not worth the hassle of not having it.
  12. Eh, I'd rather buy ammo somewhere else where it is not recorded. I'll fill my cart with something else I guess.
  13. Well I was ready to use this coupon and was getting ammo to fulfill $30 i needed to make the $50 but according to Midway, they stopped shipping handgun ammo to NJ. I dunno what that is about, all other sites ship handgun ammo to me so that sucks.
  14. Isn't there a ridiculously long waiting list though?
  15. Vlad brought up a few good points on numerous guns and storage. If I were you, I would be looking at more than one safe for 25 long guns. Also, check out pistol racks, or even a pistol-dedicated safe.
  16. Thanks for the screenshot there Yankeefan! Tonight was awesome! It was great meeting everyone and I had a good time trying out so many different pistols and revolvers. Ray, it was nice to formally meet you as well. I'm glad everyone had some fun with my 75B! Yankee, I'm glad some range time with it confirmed your new purchase now
  17. I googled the address and even went into Street-view mode, where the hell is this place? All I see is the municipal pool and a park... I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know, if I wanna make it there I have to leave by 6pm. And I dont feel like driving around Bayonne to find this place.
  18. I skimmed that article briefly and I agree that the public is becoming less safe, and I do not like hearing public safety employees being one of the first cut in terms of job losses, but I hear a lot of people saying how all these job cuts are going to allow crime to increase. I do not believe so, most of the policing in NJ is reactive and not proactive. Hence, even though the media might say differently, crime levels will most likely stay the same.
  19. That's incredible, good for him. I can't believe the mag loading, wow.
  20. Some towns have a policy on shooting firearms (within ___yds of any building, within ___yds of a street, etc). A call to your local PD will answer any such questions. Bu Milltown!? Hahaha.
  21. "...she made a b-line for her mothers bedroom" hahaha. Good for her. Yet she's also lucky nothing happened to her.
  22. Just signed up for a session, thanks a lot for a great deal! I'm planning on signing up for a couple classes as well for 2011. Looking forward to it..
  23. Yeah, exaggerated in some instances but somewhat true.
