Swedish police in a shoot out with armed robbers
Spartiati replied to halbautomatisch's topic in General Discussion
In the comments section there are entries which claim the robbers were using replica AK's.... -
As some have predicted, CNN has an article today titled "Gun fanatic yells at Piers".
-
Agree he went on a rampage way too soon. In response to how many gun murders in England last year should have just said, Pierce how many people have been killed in the last 100 years at the hands of their own governments once they were forcibly disarmed?

Virgina Ducks Suit Over Nonresident Gun Laws
Spartiati replied to this_is_nascar's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
Seems from my read of it Virginia will not allow transfers of handguns to non-residents out of state even through an FFL. Ofcourse I just read the article and not the actual statute. -
I am right handed and left eye dominant. I shoot both pistol and long guns right handed. Pistol is easy. I use sort of a weaver stance so I can maintain good alignment with pistol and arm. At first I had to close non dominant eye but over time have been able to go to both eyes open unless the target is really far away. Rifle is also no problem shooting right handed. Shotgun though was tricky at first when shooting clays/birds. I could shoot stationary fine but once the target gets moving my dominant eye would take over view of the sight and my shots would be way off unless I closed my left eye, but that would make picking up moving targets difficult. I then found a inexpensive sight which is essentially a tube about 4 or 5 inches ling which has the fiberoptics in side so my dominant left eye can't see it once the gun is mounted and voila I can now keep both eyes open and only my non dominant right eye can see the bead. Most instructors in the begining encouraged my to learn to shoot left handed, particularly with the shotgun, but I just could not get comfortable. So I have made it work well with practice mounting right handed.

That thing sounds so sweat.

Stumbled on this video today. Sorry if it was already posted, but hought it was good and reiterates trends in violent crime rates and homicide rates over the last 20 years in US with a comparison to the UK. A good dive into the murder data in US attributing most of it to cities with a population of greater than 200k where there are factors contributing to the high numbers.

Someone should post the link to Pierce's Twitter and tell him to go back and worship his Queen and be a subject. -
Can I ask a question - Gun Show Loophole
Spartiati replied to FisherDan's topic in General Discussion
So how do we prevent felons from walking into a gun store and buying a gun? Is there no way possible then? We are supposed to just live with that? Hope the guy at the gun counter has super powers and can determine based on what the person looks like and what he says not to sell him a gun? Honestly you can make that argument about anything. Even due process isn't perfect: juries can and have been manipulated; judges can and have been manipulated. Yet we still have due process and live with it's limitations. never mentioned anything about hunting, as I am aware of what the 2A was designed to do. Sorry but, aside from people saying: these checks are bad and infringe on rights; NICS is an inconvenience; and don't have this argumat with the PA guys they will destroy you, I have yet to hear a convincing argument in this thread which would compel me to believe that NICS infringes on my civil rights. -

Sounds like in your mind the very act of declaring someone a prohibited person is not constitutional? If you disagree then how do you enforce it without a background check? Just trying to understand. -
Was at my local shop today...

Wish I had a dime for every time an LEO has told me somrthing like that. It's basically his interpretation of what's being said in the media. Who knows maybe his opinion ends up being correct, but it is a guess at best. -
I use these as well. Very happy with them. I have two sets of lenses, a light color for indoors and darker for out doors. Lens change is a snap. Just gave them my prescription along with pupillary distance.

So you suggest eliminate NICS and then any prohibited person can walk in off the street and buy a gun? NICS isn't perfect but makes it more difficult for prohibited persons to obtain. You are using a few examples where it didn't work what about all the times it worked, they don't count? -

So you don't agree that certain people should be prohibited from owning firearms? As you say "shall not be infringed" means no restrictions what so ever? Think most agree there are a number of people who shouldn't have access to firearms and requiring all transfers to go through NICS is reasonable. -

We already gave them the inch with NICS on FFL transfer, only logical to do it for FTF too. To be honest I don't really even view it as having given them an inch. -
Agree, nothing is going to stop the Dems from pushing for gun control, but was very good to see how constructive the NRA was in only a week bringing a fresh perspective and not the same old ban guns banter that doesn't work.
-
I wish they would have take questions though.

Granted we will need to see what Biden comes out with, though I think we all know what it will be focused on, I think think the NRA developing a school shield program in a week will be much more effective than what Biden comes up with.
