A 108 seems to perform the best on paper I guess in the field would verify this. Experience tells me max speed never wins in accuracy, look for something around 2800 plus or minus. Powder would seem to be a factor as well, 243 and barrels seem to have this love hate relationship and sometimes the results are more than popped primers.

6.5 better than 243 and 6 better than 6.5. Biggest reasons are flatter shooting, recoil, and barrel life. Most of your precision rifles have been in 6mm for a while, justa different flavor.

Start learning by getting the Lyman Reloading Handbook and studying how to reload. This will give you a firm base to get started. Find a reloading buddy to ease the learning curve after that. We'll be here for you when your ready.

By the time the rounds "cook off" the house will be toast anyway. I have stored ammo in M2A1 cans since the 80's. As long as they are kept in a cool place, they work fine, Still shooting CF I loaded in the early 90's and surplus from the 80's. Nice idea using a job box, only problem is when you are looking for something. PIA moving cans in and out to find what you want or having to move the job box to a different location. It'll end up like a chest freezer, something always manages to park it's self on the lid. Hate that.

Sorry to say he passed three years ago, we'll all go sometime. Miss him. Rare form COPD from tobacco got him.

Always looking for good info, thankx. Been hanging out at AmazingRibs for a long time. I have three different smoker types, wood/charcoal, propane, and electric. Each has their areas where they shine for smoking. I also built a pit in the yard and cook on that as I have plenty of oak and hickory wood to burn. Takes a while to figure out the best way. Maybe time for a "Roundup" in the spring.
