  5. From what I've learned, you can burn pine but it creates a lot of creosote which is highly flammable. If I'm mistaken as to the reason, someone please correct me.
  6. A bunch of my neighbors had wood on the side of the road from fallen trees but I wasn't too sure about the legality of just picking it up so I only grabbed stuff that was on Craigslist. I was also unsure about the kind of wood laying out on the curb, if I didn't see any of the branches with leaves. I was still cautious about the stuff on Craigslist if I saw any pine needles.
  7. I didn't think about contacting local tree services. I found one that would drop off for free but the logs are 13' in length so I'd have to cut them into more manageable pieces. I also have a friend whose father has a tree service so I may ask her if he'd be willing to drop off some logs every once in a while.
  8. I got a promotion at work, and along with it a raise, so it'll be hard for me to determine the difference from 2012 to 2013. I'm definitely curious if I'll see any difference when I get paid on the 15th.
  9. I have no problem splitting the wood myself, which is what I did for all the wood I picked up after Sandy. I have a pickup truck with a 6' bed so I can pick up the wood, it would just take multiple trips for a full cord.
  10. My wife and I bought a house with a built-in fireplace in Middlesex over the summer. After Hurricane Sandy, I went out and grabbed as much firewood that I could (that I was positive wasn't pine) but would still like to have more. We also have a firepit that we used during the summer so some of the wood would be used for that. From what I grabbed after Sandy, I have about 1/2 cord right now. I'd like to get another 1/2 to full cord and am thinking about purchasing it instead of trying to get it for free off of Craigslist. There's a place in Hillsborough that want $275 for 40 cu. ft. whereas Alstede Farms in Chester wants $250 for a full cord. Can anyone recommend a reputable place to buy firewood that isn't a ripoff?
