  1. Well said. I can legally fire up my mower at 8am on a Saturday, but I don't. My neighbor has a newborn baby and I am capable of being considerate. It's a quality that is vanishing in this area. There was a time that being an a-hole came with the very real risk of a punch in the face. That risk is largely gone thanks to a certain portion of the legal system. There's little to keep the "me me me!" segment of the general public in check. Sign of the times...
  2. How many of you saying that HK service is terrible actually have any person experience with it? How many have even owned an HK product?
  3. This whole argument does not apply. We're not talking about people who agonize over voting for anti-2A candidates because of other issues. We're talking about FUDDS. These are the guys who freely admit that they don't care about the 2A. The telltale sign is when they launch into the whole, "why does anyone need a XXX?" XXX can be standard cap mags, handguns, MSR's, suppressors, etc. You can tell they are the enemy because they use the same terminology and support the same legislation as groups like MDA. Things like waiting periods for handguns and prevention of OC/CCW. Even if we go by your scenario, if you vote in a way that threatens my rights I won't be considering you my compadre no matter what your rationale. Do you make excuses for union members who voted for Sweeney because it was good for their jobs? Are you OK with parasites who voted for Booker because the continued/expanded handouts? It matters little to me if members here consider their firearm ownership as a hobby provided they support the 2A when it comes time to vote.
  4. I know my share of hunters. Some are Fudds. Some are not. The Fudds own guns as a happenstance to hunting. They have no particular love or interest in them. They don't identify as gun owners and certainly not as enthusiasts. They really don't give a damn about the 2A or any gun rights outside of those that apply to hunting. I doubt many have even heard of this website, let alone joined. Fudds are a bigger danger than some realize. It's not just that they vote for anti-2A candidates (that's bad enough), they too often become a tool to influence the fence-sitters in the general population. They are used by the antis as the "reasonable" gun owners and give legitimacy to the antis favorite crusades like mag limits, expanded background checks, banned MSR's etc. "See, RESPONSIBLE gun owners support COMMON SENSE gun control legislation!" If you're a hunter who truly believes in the 2A, you're OK in my book. Just because I consider Fudds much the same as any anti doesn't have a thing to do with you. If you're a hunter who can't tell the difference, you're probably a Fudd and you wouldn't be reading this anyway..
  5. If you're really that hard up, PM me. I'm sure I can dig up a spare brick if you're not too far away. You pay whatever I paid.
  6. ...and that's the important distinction. One group is embarrasses us, the other sells us out.
  7. How do we know that the dealer trying to sell the new car is not lying about the damage? We also don't know that the used car dealer even knew about the damage. There's a difference between fraud and negligence. All car salesmen are dishonest the way all gun owners are bloodthirsty murderers.
  8. I'm going to make a practical suggestion here. Has the dealer who evaluated this car as a trade refused to accept it or offered you a reduced value? If he has done the latter, take the difference between that offer and the trade-in value had it not been damaged. Add a few hundred for your trouble and go back to the dealer who sold you the car. Ask him to reimburse you for the difference, or to buy the car back from you at full trade-in value. He may decide to do that instead of dealing with a lawsuit and bad word-of-mouth. I'd take a shot at that before going the legal route.
  9. If you could prove that the dealer knew of the damage and failed to disclose, you would have some kind of chance.
  10. If you want different, look at the Chiappa Rhino.
  11. We went for the day yesterday and I was pleased. The beach wasn't too crowded,$5 per adult, kids free and $10 all day parking in the garage. It is a plus for me that there are no boardwalk games. My daughter enjoyed the beach more than she ever has because she wasn't in a constant state of waiting to go on the boardwalk. We'll definitely go back again.
  12. Planning a little day trip to the beach with the family. Long Branch is one of the few beaches I have never spent any time at. We usually go further south, but wanted to try to save a little drive time. So what's the skinny? Decent for a day trip with a 6 year old? How far along is the boardwalk reconstruction?
  13. It's a new gun. I would suggest against messing with it if you are not experienced. Send it back to Ruger and they'll make it right.
  14. Take a look at the Ruger SR9. You can get one brand new for under $375 with some patience and smart shopping.
  15. That's what I've always heard, but she says the guy she talked to gave her some BS about the truck being unloaded heading west. I've probably lost 10 windshields this way, but they are all company cars and I've never had to do more than call Safelite. The fleet administrator always handles the rest. Just what I needed today...
  16. My wife just called, a rock from a dump truck broker her windshield while travelling on route 80. She called the trucker and he gave her some BS, then told her to file a police report. She's on her way to do just that. What is the best way to handle this? We've had the car for less than a year and I'm not too keen on paying for this myself. The windshield will fall below my deductible, so insurance will be of no help. We do not have specific glass coverage.
  17. Funny that there is so much discussion of justification for CC on a forum that mostly seems to believe that the 2A guarantees our right to bear arms no such encumbrances. Did I say funny? I meant prophetic. It doesn't matter if a CO needs a gun or not. It is his right. It is my right. It's not tied to need, training, profession, political connections or anything else. As long as we keep discussing this right within the framework designed by the other side, we will continue to legitimize the very concept that we must conform to some arbitrary standard of some kind in order to exercise our precious right. I am a purist. This right shall not be infringed. Period. What is the point in arguing the level of a CO's need to protect himself if that right is absolute (other than further dividing the already fractured gun community?) I completely understand the resentment some have that a "special" class of people has evolved that enjoys this right while largely remaining silent about those who are not part of the club. I do not, however, see any additional restrictions of this right to be positive or even neutral. The more that firearms become demonized, the more restrictions that are accepted, the closer we get to the eventual goal - complete disarmament. It's more divide and conquer. We are playing right into their hands.
  18. Sounds like the modern version of "let them eat cake," I think the CO referenced in the OP should get his CCP. Just as the rest of us should. I see no benefit in slamming LE over this issue, but this attitude is just as bad. Perhaps the unwashed masses would feel differently if the NJ LE community would come out in unified force and support the rights of the average citizen. Until then, you can expect a portion of the 2A community to harbor resentment over the inequity of such policies.
  19. For your truck, I would keep a spare TFI module in the glove box.
  20. This would be a great opportunity for jury nullification, but since the jury will be made up of NJ residents...not a chance.
  21. Take this thought to its inevitable conclusion. Why do we submit to the process in the first place? Isn't a P2P or even the FID card itself an infringement? Since when did any kind of qualification prevent those intent on crime and mayhem from accomplishing their goal?
  22. Florentine is a thousand times better than Tom Papa. I would expect a rotating cast to include Burr, Attell, Amy Shumer, Voss, Breuer, Bob Kelley, etc. I doubt they will pick a permanent replacement, at least not in the short term.
  23. Fair enough, but he's a bit of a hot head. When he cools off he might find the paycheck and loyalty to the rest of the guys makes him reconsider. Also, it is possible that the show will continue without him, at least for a while. It won't be the same, but I'm not so sure that Opie and Jim will just walk away. It looks like a pretty good gig to me. They have plenty of comedian buddies to fill Anthony's chair.
