  1. I am in the market for a second handgun and have never bought "online" before. I think I have the process down but if someone could set me straight I'd appreciate it. 1.So I find what I want at the price I want online (I know gunbroker is huge but are there any other good, reliable sites?) 2. I order it online, pay for the gun and shipping to a local FFL 3. I call the local FFL to let them know to expect a handgun coming to transfer to me 4. When it arrives I go to the FFL with ID and P2P in hand, pay the transfer price + NICS 5. Walk out the door with my new pistol Do I have the steps right? I would prefer to buy local and help out the "little guy" but cash is a little tight right now and the pistol I'm looking at is going for $500 online (plus $25 shipping) (plus $35 transfer and NICS) so I'm looking at $560 out the door buying online vs. $550 plus 7% sales tax plus $15 for NICS at a LGS so $603 out the door at the lowest local price I could find. If it was a $5 or even $20 difference I'd eat it and help the local guy but $43 is a lot. I suppose I am also helping a local guy by paying them the transfer fee.
  2. Thanks I have been meaning to stop by him for a small smithing job on another firearm so maybe I can kill two birds with one stone.
  3. Very Very interesting idea. I owe you a beer! Still thinking about the G19 though... what are they running for in NJ these days? Last I checked RTSP was asking $575 +tax and nics.
  4. What's the going rate on a G19 in NJ nowadays? Gen3 or Gen4.
  5. So what would the price be for a non-member to use the 25 yard range for 1 hour and rent a non premium handgun? (excluding purchasing GFH ammo)
  6. If you find a better price online... ask the LGS if they will match, beat, or at least come close to the online price. If they can come reasonably close buy from the local guy. In this economy I'm sure many places would rather cut the profit margin a bit than lose it altogether.
  7. I agree. I loved the show. He was a great actor and by most accounts a good guy. He went overseas to entertain our armed forces, etc. However, the flag should be reserved for military KIA. I think they should also lower it once a year for POW/MIA, or maybe fly the POW/MIA flag in its place.

  9. If only the shooter had his FID encoded on his Driver's License this could all have been stopped... I bet he was using a .50 Barrett and a .50AE Desert Eagle as well.
  10. +1 for DirtyDigz Great guy to deal with especially when I hit a few scheduling issues. Very accommodating.
  11. ^ This. Keep in mind that outside security and armored truck drivers, sometimes store owners who handle large quantities of cash will be granted CCW. However, in NJ these CCW permits are HIGHLY restricted as above. So the guy who owns a convenience store who gets a CCW for bringing cash to the bank will not be able to CCW at any other time. Even the security guards who get CCW permits can only carry while working. Also, the NJ permits only allow you to carry the particular firearm(s) listed on the permit. I.e. your CCW would say "Joe can carry a concealed Glock 19 Serial number 12345 when transferring cash from Joe's Jewelry Store to X Bank." Technically if Joe ccw's his Glock 23 to the bank he is violating his permit.
  12. I agree. I started that thread and I'm not happy it was moved to a sub forum for only premium members. Why not at least put it in the pending legislation forum?
  13. If you buy American cars look into the GM Mastercard.
  14. I'm interested. Look forward to hearing from you.
  15. I primarily shoot at Bullet Hole but I am in easy driving distance of Bayonne, RTSP, and the new Gun for Hire range. Thanks for the offer down in Howell. If I'm heading down that way I'll drop you a PM.
  16. I'm more or less on the same page as you here. I also see execution as the easy way out for many of these hardened criminals. Let them serve life... but old school life cracking rocks and eating stale bread and water for the rest of their lives. None of this modern prison with cable TV and a gym.
  17. Waiting on a P2P and thinking about the Sig P220. Anyone have one and want to share their thoughts? Purpose would be home defense and range training classes. I don't have an out of state carry permit and don't plan on applying for one anytime soon so size/weight is not a consideration. I have never held or shot one, but I have shot my friend's 9mm P226 Blackwater Edition and I was very impressed by the Sig quality. I know the grip of the P220 will be thinner because it's single stack so I want to get my hands on one before I choose. I currently have a Beretta 92A1 which I am very happy with... but the buying itch has hit me again and I think the P220 may be a good choice for me. Also, if anyone in North NJ has a P220 and would be kind enough to let me put a few rounds through it I would really appreciate it. I'd be happy to supply my own ammo and meet you at the range whenever you're going to be there (not looking for anyone to go out of their way for me).
  18. I know I'm preaching to the choir but when has a .50 BMG rifle ever been used in a crime in NJ or the USA as a whole?
  19. Probably a silly question but I imagine GFH will be offering classes at this location right?
  20. Sounds great but all of the membership plans are too rich for my blood. I'm sure I'll check it out one day and put some holes in paper as a non member but I can't justify paying $279 per year PLUS paying for the range time every visit. Don't get me wrong I have no doubt this place will seem like the Plaza hotel compared to Bullet Hole, it's just not something I can afford especially in this economy. Will GFH be moving from Belleville to WP entirely?
  21. Come on guys we can do better than 30k! Let's get out there and start buying!
  22. I'm going to be in the market for a new car come the fall. Having a hard time choosing between leasing and buying (financing). If I buy, I prefer to buy American, but the American cars don't hold their value as well. On the other hand replacement parts on the American cars are usually cheaper.
  23. I've been meaning to check this place out as well. I'd imagine .22lr rifles are OK to shoot there?
