  1. so did I miss something? I hope no one is even thinking of a trade-off like that... let's see, give away everything for one right you should have had from day-1, that's not even fighting to a draw in my opinion
  2. Trenton parking will be dicey so IMO the Riverline would be a smart play for you guys coming from South Jersey. Take a look here google says .9 miles and 20 minute walk but I say 10 ~ 12 minute walk max, get on and stay on East & West State Street, don't detour off.. Edit 1: Just to be clear the Riverline is across the street from the Main Train station, I couldn’t add the Riverline as destination Edit 2 : for clarity Barring no winter storms or emergencies I will be there as well
  3. looks like he is from Israel remember he did get into some trouble
  4. I commend the Assemblyman's action but I too was thinking the same thing. Justifiable need is just more NJ BS. Always remember when you are dealing with NJ state government perception is everything and reality is nothing. The real CCW app decision comes from being plugged-in to Political party in charge and justifiable need is just something the political hack instructs his cronie buddy to scribble on the app, They already know in advance it will get approved. Like many here I'm a life long NJ resident and I like others here have non-resident ccw permits. We could carry in 30+ other states but we can't carry in our home state, that's mindboggling
  5. Thank you for doing what you do here with regards to keeping us informed, it is greatly appreciated! I bet you are thrilled to actually post some good news for a change. Maybe commons sense isn’t dead after all
  6. Thanks for the detailed reply back. I have and old FBI XL system hat has provided nearly 24 years of daily service, it is a dinosaur by today’s standards but I have good coverage and it works. I did the install and know how to manually reprogram the panel via the keypad when I need to switch monitoring companies. As far as the POTS vs. cellular vs. IP for burglary (IMO) it really doesn’t matter because once the thieves hear the alarm they know they have a few minutes to get in and out. The proof of that is another family member got burglarized and the panel reported to the codes and their sirens were blaring. Guess what the noise or the CS dispatch didn’t stop the bad guys, they went in anyway. Looking back at the home’s location I think may have made it look like an attractive target itself and we think the thieves planned their escape route in advance because of the layout. The thieves knew they had some time before the police could respond. The B&E happened near Trenton. 45 minutes after the B&E the wife’s credit cards were being maxed out in NY, needless to say once the CC company seen all the action on the cards they shut them down. A week or two later the same crew hit another house only a few doors away and those folks had NO alarm so the thieves were in there a while and did pretty good from what we heard. I have an indoor and outdoor sirens, the indoor siren is powered by the panel with its own siren driver @ the standard 12 volts. The outdoor sirens horns are powered by a Moose siren driver with their own separate power supply @ 18 volts. I forget how my db it is but it is very loud; you could hear dogs hollowing two blocks over when I put it on test. You make a good case for Cams on top and alarm system. I had been thinking about adding them and may do it sooner than later. Also have another family member in LE and states B&E's are up, in fact I installed an FBI XL for him back in 2003 and their system is still going as well. Maybe the new gun laws will stop the B&E's, LOL. IMO 60 seconds on entry is way too long, I’m a DIY guy but the Pros like Mr Nickjc would be able to give you the best answer. I know In the old days folks like ADT Business would call that a “supervised line” or “dedicated line” which I assume are mostly used for businesses. The line itself is monitored, back then when I first heard about supervised systems they were copper. so today they could they do it with cellular or IP, perhaps? I'm sure Nickjc will give you more info on that
  7. slightly OT but that reminds me of the Our Guy/Their Guy image floated around last year or so (click image to enlarge). Putin did it so if it were attempted here at some point I wouldn't be surprised. If someone told us 5 years ago the powers to be were looking to void 2A we would have said that isn't going to happen either. The moral of the story is never say never
  8. So you are saying the big guys no longer use proprietary systems and you could switch monitor companies w/o problems? If so that is good for the consumer. I'm not in the business but when I did my panel that is how it was then. ADT residential stuff was junk, or maybe a step above Radio Shack. BTW did you have an Internet Alarm Store currently? I seem to remember buying my last set of smokes from a NJ online company and a guy name Nick. I just checked and that site is still up, what are the odds?
  9. Speaking as a Do it Yourself guy, I’d suggest getting and “Industry Standard System” which could be monitored by and UL Listed Central Station. ADT and the others big companies use proprietary stuff that could only be monitored by them. So when your contract is up you just can’t switch to another CS. With an Industry Standard System you could have any UL Listed CS monitor it. Wired is best but sometimes it is difficult to run wire to every location so you will likely end up with Hybrid/both. I did a (wired) self-install over 23-24 years ago and it is still going. So after 5 – 6 batteries, 5 different CS Monitoring companies and an exchange of smoke heads all is good here. Ademco use to make pretty good panels you may want to take a look at them Edit: typo
  10. I have the small American flag from DAV that says “Freedom isn’t Free” and NRA stickers on both my vehicles, if I had a windshield on my Harley I’d probably put one there too. The NRA sticker are 3” in diameter so going down the road at 25, 35, 50 or 65 ~ 80 mph I doubt if anyone even sees them. In a parking lot my vehicles only seem to find shopping carts other than that they don’t draw any attention in my case. I think the only folks that recognize them are you guys. So small decals in windows are OK but I’d don’t do bumper stickers EDIT: typo
  11. Note: Not for the kiddies I watched Ted this weekend, if you need good laugh try to watch this one
  12. ...all the 223/5.56 was gone
  13. What could I say, had I known it was going to strike a chord with you I wouldn’t have…. Better yet make it a sticky, and if you actually want to do some good consider faxing it to your local reps. We don’t need the reinforcement, your reps do since they are the ones that lost their way. Happy New Year All!
  14. With UPS I'm fairly certain ammo has to be dropped off at a UPS Customer Center, it cannot be dropped off at a UPS Drop Box or a USP Store.
  15. I’m was only providing my viewpoint and not taking issue with anything said but since you asked if you think NRA Wayne took a hard line stance and gave a great performance last week I would say he looked weak and indecisive. That doesn’t mean I disagree with him, it just means he was foundering in my view. I understand they have our backs against the wall and he was not in a great situation to begin with but if Wayne can’t project the message that we didn’t do anything wrong and that we only put holes in paper and small game and NOT people then maybe someone else should be doing press conferences. if you liked what you seen last week good for you. I'd say he better bring his A-game next time
  16. I'd like to respond to the "guys that are HELPING" question/statement with only another opinion, this is not fact based. In my view it doesn't have to be the police, it could be anyone with an internet connection. All you need is some college intern or law student posing or lurking on any given gun forums looking for ammo (pardon the pun) to undermine us. That plus the fact that previous language is already out there for a template so all they have to do it clamp down on what they already know to f*** us further. It is likely there is "some" LE influence but I'd bet most of it is coming from consultants hired by the Holders and Feinsteins of the world.... As to the other comments. I wish I could share the optimism of you folks saying because it is such an over-reach it will never pass. I think/they think/ they have the wind to their backs on this and they are All-in, doubling-down and going for the million dollar roll to Win-it-All. Whatever legislation they craft all it is certain to do is create a new class of Outlaws. I hope next time out NRA Wayne could give a better showing than last week. He has to win over the other camp, not us...
  17. which as the better fire rating? that may decide it for you
  18. The Antis seem to be gaining momentum because of the press. Now some of my coworkers that don’t know the difference between a quail and a deer or a revolver and a rifle are now firearms experts and claim we don’t need large standard capacity mags.
  19. yep, then the publisher should be held as an accomplice to the thief and any gun crime takes place afterwards
