  1. Thanks for the input. I have decided to take the long road and purchased a Lee classic cast single stage press from Midway earlier today along with a set of lee shell holders and the universal decapping die. Figured I can start depriming my brass while I decide what I'm going to start reloading and research the rest of the gear some more.
  2. I was wondering if there was a benefit to piecing together a reloading set up verses buying a kit? In researching equipment to get started in reloading, I see Lee has a cast iron framed single stage press that is sold alone for about $100. Lee also has a kit that comes with an aluminum frame press for about the same price. I come from the old school thinking that cast iron will last a lot longer than aluminum for tools. How big a difference does it make? Regarding the scale, is a digital better than the beam type? I'm taking the slow road approach to putting my set up together. I have already purchased the Hornady magnum sonic cleaner and case solution. I've been experimenting with cleaning the cases (primers still in) with hot water and an ounce or so of solution and have gotten pretty good results. Went this route since I don't have a place to set up a tumbler and deal with the dust.
  3. I think it's safe to say no one is trying to set you up. Keep in mind that a good number of us on this forum are into collecting and look for situations like this to add to their collection.
  4. 6 years ago I purchased my first home and at the same time my daughter was being born. I still look back at the whole thing as a mega miracle that I survived! Lol That being said, my advice to you is first get all your pre qualification for the mortgage in order. The finance end is half the battle. Make sure you work with a very reputable agent/broker. When you find your potential home, go over it with a fine tooth comb. Remember to ask questions about the age of the appliances, heater, AC, etc, anything that can possibly cost thousands to repair or replace. Get yourself a good home inspector to look over the place before you sign your papers. If the listing agent won't answer your questions or gives you sketchy answers (aka they are BSing you), be suspicious. Remember these people work on commission and will do whatever is possible to sell the home. Once your ready to buy, be prepared to have extra cash available for any last minute things that may arise. Don't forget to budget things like paint and carpet cleaning/replacement. It's easier to take care of that stuff before you move in when there is no furniture to deal with. Lastly, don't be afraid to not spend the max amount your approved for, and remember this is NJ and the property taxes will rape you hard! Good luck!
  5. I am obsessing over the 204 Ruger for the same reason!
  6. Here is the link to the NJSP firearms web page: http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/firearms.html How many hand guns and how many rifles are you going to acquire?
  7. There is a proposal waiting for a bill number that will eliminate the P2P coming from the PD. Forms will still need to be filled out however it will take place at the FFL. I have heard that since it is state budget season in Trenton that the issue will not move forward till the beginning of the next session.
  8. Marchers make their way through Pittsgrove Township to show support for USANA Gun Club http://mobile.nj.com...ntguid=9oGL28Cf Link to full web site story: http://www.nj.com/salem/index.ssf/2012/06/marchers_make_their_way_throug.html
  9. They have been replaced by Justin Beeber and theJonas Brothers. Unfortunately kids today will probably never know Wayne or Patton.
  10. Definitely reach out to NJ2AS. The web site is www.nj2as.com . They have a program called operation compliance and it is all about the municipalities that break NJ law by asking for additional paperwork. They have been successful in getting towns to get rid of all the extra BS when it comes to the FPID/P2P process. As far as your manager goes, when anyone ever asks me why I need another hand gun or how many do I need, my reply is "as many as I want".
  11. I second the previous post. Do it at the same time. When I did an exemption a few months back, I first applied for my P2P's then about ten days later applied for the exemption. I got the call from my PD about two weeks after that to let me know that my permits and exemption paperwork were ready to pick up.
  12. In regards to #2 and #4, yes you can buy a pistol today then use your exemption/P2P's tomorrow to pick up the exempted guns. With the exemption, there is only one call to NICS so it should be on fee for the exempted purchases. Im not sure how things are effected if you go to buy your pistols on the exemption form one at a time once the paperwork is submitted. When I did my exemption it took just under two weeks to receive the approval. The address I have for the paperwork is NJ State Police Building 8 PO Box 7068 West Trenton, NJ 08628-0068

  14. I can tell you first hand that an opossum let's out a high pitch screech when you run over it with a Harley. Kinda sounds like a whistle.
  15. For some reason, the old saying "keep your friends close but your enemies closer" comes to mind. I'm sure anti's listen to and read plenty of pro gun sites and books. As mentioned before, there's an election coming. I'll start doing the happy dance when we get OGAM or P2P by the PD repealed! Better yet, when I can buy a rifle with an adjustable stock or a M1 Carbine!
  16. If your wife uses her P2P, I don't think the origin of the cash means squat. I would say it makes no difference weather you hand the FFL the money or she does. The P2P is what matters here. It is asinine that if you and your wife both have FID's and both have purchased pistols that you can't take your spouses pistol to the range unless you are there together. As mentioned before, if one of you dies while still married, the other is now the owner of all the guns so what's the difference?
  17. FN FNP or FNX. I've got the FNP 9mm with close to 1k through it and no problems. I would also suggest the XD 9mm
  18. I say it's all about a good shot. Why wouldn't you want to bring a rifle you know you can make consistent groups with? As long as your shooting ammo that is heavy enough, shot placement will be what puts the meat on the table.
  19. I am a hunter (not a psycho fanatic type) and as far back as I can remember I was always told "all you need" is a pump shotgun, or a single shot slug gun, or a 30-06 for out of state hunting. Since I've taken up shooting as a hobby, I can tell you I'll be getting evil looks on my next out of state trip!
  20. I showed my fiancée the Gnomes with the M16 and the zombie coming out of the ground statue. We will be ordering both and posing them accordingly.
  21. Forgive my ignorance, but what .30 carbine are you referring to?
  22. I used to fly a lot. I had the TSA locks for a small case of hand tools I would check. After replacing the locks 3 times because they broke them off so they could do a bag inspection, I started using small plastic zip ties instead. Replacing a zip tie is cheaper than a pad lock.
