  1. Actually, no. It was immediately to the left of port A. Couldn't have been more than ten yards away if you had been at port A. Pretty exciting! I was at rifle port 1 and it was a pretty good thump.
  2. Well, *here's* something that you'll never see at another range: Yesterday around lunchtime at Range 14, they took everyone off the pistol range. Someone had found an unexploded "bazooka" round, and it had to be disposed of. One quick "BAM!," a little concussion, and a big pillar of smoke. Then everything back to normal. Fun fun fun!
  3. Edison: 2/5: initial P2P application 2/15: fingerprinted. 5/13: permits "issued." 6/5: actually received notice that permits were issued. yes, it looks like it took them over three weeks just to let me know that the permits were available.
  4. I saw two 10-round MP15-22 magazines on the shelf at RTSP this morning - one long, one short. They seem to get them in regularly.
  5. Thanks for making it easy!
  6. Stop making shit up. This is the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge:
  7. Abercrombie & Fitch used to be a for-real sporting goods chain. High end stuff like Orvis today. Today, A&F branded firearms sell for huge dollars. They say Ernest Hemingway shot himself with a gun he bought at A&F. These days, they assume everyone has a 30-inch waist and wears flip-flops everywhere even in the wintertime. Wtf. Raising a nation of sissies. (get off my lawn)
  8. Get up off the mat and tell me how 54 is elderly. Then get off my lawn! (damn kids these days...!)
  9. Is it just me or are their sizes really big? I'm 6'2", 220 pounds, and I ordered a "Large" shirt. I'm pretty sure I can use it to conceal-carry a full-size 1911, my new freeze-ray gun, and Anthony GunForHire at the same time. Are they just trying to make me feel skinny? I feel guilty. There are poor kids running around naked in Africa and I bought a $12 shirt that can cover the Superdome. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me?
  10. When I first found out about GfH radio, I listened to like 40 episodes in a week and a half. Great stuff. Can't wait for Smokin' Gun!
  11. Three big young dudes get hit with an AR-15 at really short range and only one of them falls down? F*** that noise. I need a PTR91.
  12. I fly United all the time - I have 160,000 miles already this year with them - and here's my sincere advice to you: do not book afternoon flights in the summertime. You WILL be delayed. Flights before 10am are much more reliable. After the summer thunderstorm season is over, afternoon flights are less tricky.
  13. Applied through Gun For Hire on 4/20, received license in the mail today (5/29).
  14. Yes. I wonder how many times I'll win it before they ban me from entering.

  16. I had the wonderful opportunity to do grand jury service a few years ago in Middlesex county. I have a full-time job, and I enjoy doing jury duty. I've been on three juries in the last ten years, and I've had good experiences each time. I look forward to doing it again. As indicated above, grand juries do not hear cases - they listen to the prosecutor's evidence on how and why the defendant was charged, and must then vote on whether or not this is sufficient to continue prosecution (pass an indictment). What typically happens is that you serve for X weeks (I did 18) on the same day of the week (so I had 18 Fridays in a row). Each day, you can hear evidence on between 10 and 20 cases. Most of the cases are kind of dull - I'd say at least 50% were "possession with intent to distribute" - i.e. drug dealing. But some of the others were super-interesting - fraud, assault, murder, and so on. The evidence is way better than what you get on Cops on TV. There was security-camera footage of a stabbing at a gas station, in-car video of a high-speed chase on the turnpike (the perp even managed to disabled the cop car by ramming it, and then got away!). So, really cool stuff. And every day you get witnesses - sometimes police, sometimes not - who will offer their verbal testimony that they will produce in court, should the case go to trial. So there's a very personal connection. Also, I now know exactly what every single narc in Middlesex county looks like, which could be useful. So I say go for it. It's an exciting opportunity. I wish I could sign up for jury duty more often.
  17. The EAA Witness is actually a CZ75 clone, not a 1911. A nice video comparing the two: (I want one!) I got a Taurus PT1911SS-AR from Bullseye last month, and I've put over 1000 rounds through it so far. It's nice looking, and straight shooting. It's really solid-feeling - easily the heaviest 1911 I've ever held. Lots of "custom" features that are only found on more expensive guns. I really like the serrations on the front of the slide - I think a 1911 without front serrations is not done yet. Edit: I should add that it came standard with the skeletonized trigger and hammer you want. It also has the lightest trigger I've ever felt on a semi-auto pistol (besides my buddy's Wilson Combat), with a nice clean break.
  18. I managed to get my 1911 so dirty it wouldn't fire. It happened pretty quickly. First couple of magazines that day, had one or two FTF's (never happened before). Then suddenly, the trigger would not release the hammer, as if the safety was still engaged. This was probably at around the 800-rounds-since-last-cleaning mark. Put it away, shot something else for the rest of my hour. Took it home, took it apart, cleaned everything and now it seems to work fine. Is 800 alot? A little? Is Federal American Eagle really dirty? I have no idea. But there you have it.
  19. So this brings up an interesting question: are we *ever* required to produce our handgun purchase permit receipts? Is there any reason I shouldn't go in the basement right now and burn all my pink slips?
