  11. Finally made it out to the new members meeting. Glad I got there real early. By the looks of it, raising the cap contribution fee did not slow down new members. I believe there were about 50 people there! Met some good people too.... Ron
  12. Want a feel good puppy rescue story? A year ago Thanksgiving weekend, we were driving to Philly to my nephews place for dinner. Driving west on 195 into Trenton. Right as you make that last bend before the tunnel, I spot a little Beagle trying to jump the median. Slammed on the brakes and waved traffic to slow, while the Mrs called him. People were being jerks and wouldn't stop, so in the heat of the moment I just walked into the road and started waving till they stopped and the little guy ran to my wife. We checked him out and he seemed healthy but thin. Anyhow we hung on the side of the road for a long time waiting for someone to come looking. He had no collar or tags. So we took him to dinner with us. My nephew has two rescue PBs and the three played all through dinner. On the way home we stopped at Northstar and had him scanned for chip - negative. Home he came. Craigslist ads and Trenton animal shelter and PD had no reports. So guess what? He's sleeping on the sofa next to me right now. His name. Trenton. He was actually about 2 at the time we picked him off the road... We already had two rescue Beagles at the time and they all got along just fine. In fact his youthful personality helped our older guys get in shape! Good luck with your search. Rescue if possible! Unconditional love for life is what you'll get in return.
  13. I'll preface my opinion saying that my property is covered with big oaks, and huge pitch pines. I used to clean guttesr 4x a year or more. Fall sucks. Summer, not as bad. These foam things stunk in my application. It all depends on your tree cover and type. Within a year of installing these, I had tree sprouts shooting up rooted in the foam. I tore them out of my first floor gutters and threw them away! I'd rather climb the 10 foot ladder each month than deal with the messy appearance.(on my first level) Also, most gutter guards do not stop roofing grit or pine needles - making them not 100% maintenence free. I still have them on my upper gutters but still need to pull them up once a year to rinse the pine needles and grit out. And yes, they make spectacular icicles! One other thing you may notice with gutter guards is roof staining. Anything that sits in the gutters rots, and if you drain a high roof onto a low roof, you'll get shingle staining from the rotting vegetation that escapes in rain flow. If you are not surrounded by trees, you might get away with these products. I am not thrilled with them...
  14. swell...looks like I will have to take time off of work if I want to join....

  17. edited to remove names of those arrested..but if you subscribe to Jackson PD on face book... Jackson Township Police Department News Release Detectives Make Arrests of Individuals Illegally Selling Firearms On July 17th and 18th, Jackson Township Detectives working with the assistance of Patrol Officers, arrested two people for illegally selling firearms. On Wednesday July 17 at approximately 4:35 pm, a motor vehicle stop of a 2008 Toyota was conducted on West Commodore Boulevard and a male subject was arrested. The Detective Bureau had been provided information that the driver was seeking to sell a firearm. A meeting was arranged with the subject and a Mauser .32 caliber handgun, along with ammunition was purchased. The handgun had reportedly been passed down to the subject from a family member and it was sold without any of the required paperwork. After the transaction was made in a nearby parking lot, the subject’s vehicle was stopped and he was placed under arrest without incident. Arrested: Mr. X was charged with the illegal transfer of a firearm. He was processed and issued a summons complaint and released pending a court appearance. On Thursday July 18, based on information that a second subject was seeking to sell a firearm, Detectives arranged to meet with the suspect in the parking lot of a business on Monmouth Road. At approximately 7:55 pm when the suspect arrived at the location in a 2004 Honda, he was taken into custody without incident. The driver was found to be in possession of a .177 caliber handgun which was modeled after a Beretta PX4 Storm with a silencer which had been purchased out of state. Arrested: Mr. X was charged with the illegal transfer of a firearm. He was processed and issued a summons complaint and released pending a court appearance. - All suspects and persons who are named in this release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
  18. Buy it. You know you want it. Like I said, they can be had for less, but if you factor in shipping, and any compliance work....etc...you'll be close to his asking price.
  19. Seeing these for 5xx now from dealers. Still crazy prices on auction sites. I admit I overpaid for mine, but I love it. Cheap ammo, real wood stock... I may bite on another 7.62 rifle shortly if ammo prices don't drop soon..
  20. try calling the admin assistants first. Last time I was in there they had a sign posted to expect longer than 'normal' wait times for all FID/P2P apps.
  21. not the cheapest, but available...189 for can of 640 7,62x39
  22. if you are worried about them dying at an inopportune moment, just change them out when you do your smoke alarm batteries.
  23. I would do this^. If you see a dead spot or hole in the ground under the canopy of the tree, cut a sample of soil down about 6 inches, Rutgers has a soil analysis program and they may be able to detect herbicides. If they dumped a gallon of roundup or other herbicide over the winter I doubt they'll do a second application. But I would still set up a trail cam just in case. Good luck!
  24. Your fence is part of your property, so its your insurance that will cover its repair. You'll need to get an adjuster out to look at it to give you an estimate. They will also cover removal of the tree if it is still on the fence. (you did take photos right??) It would have been nice if the neighbor would help a little with the deductible... Like mentioned above, ask the tree service to bump it up a little to help cover your deductible if its still there. And only have them remove whats on your property. Leave the stump and trunk on the neighbors ground.....along with any branches etc that come down when its removed. I went through this post Sandy too...It sucks.
