  1. How do you plan on ordering your CMP rifle without the CMP having a copy of your FID card on file??
  2. From ANJRPC: In a dramatic upset in the timing of the "centerpiece" of the Democrats' gun bill package, the New Jersey Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee today failed to muster enough votes to pass S2723/A4182 out of committee. In a stunning turn of events, it became apparent during a roll call vote that there were not a sufficient number of Democratic votes for the bill. Rather than complete the roll call as required by legislative rules, chaos and confusion ensued as the committee chairman and staffers halted the proceedings mid-roll- call and huddled in an adjacent room while they figured out what to do. Republican members of the committee protested the unprecedented procedure and argued with the chairman. Rather than completing the embarrassing vote, the chairman made a face-saving announcement that the bill was being "held" for further amendment at a future meeting. It is highly irregular, and likely against legislative rules, to halt a vote once it has begun. It is anticipated that the bill will resurface at another Assembly committee meeting later this month, where Democrats will use legislative maneuvers to either change the committee members to ensure a favorable outcome, or move the bill through an entirely different committee where they can better control the outcome. "The game is completely rigged in Trenton," said ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach. "The Democrats suffered an embarrassing delay today, but they will be back with a vengeance and attempt every procedural trick in the book to ensure the passage of their centerpiece bill." The stalled Sweeney bill throws out existing FID cards and replaces them with either a privacy-invading driver license endorsement or other form of ID; suspends Second Amendment rights without proof of firearms training; imposes a 7-day waiting period for handgun purchases; ends all private sales; and effectively creates a registry of ammunition purchases and long gun sales. Democrats have touted the bill as a national model. Leading up to the unusual committee result, there was sharp testimony from several gun rights activists, including ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach, who ripped the bill as "a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist” and "an irrational attack” on gun owners. Bach mocked the suggestion that New Jersey is a "national model” for anything, told legislators to leave responsible gun owners alone, and urged them to pull their "centerpiece” off the table. Apparently, some Democrats agreed. A recording of the hearing can be accessed here (scroll to Thursday, June 6, 2013, then click "listen”). Bach’s full statement is available here. Other bills on the agenda passed out of committee, but those bills have either been previously amended so they only impact criminals, or they do not impact Second Amendment rights. Additional details on today's events will be forthcoming.
  3. Dang I've accidentally used 9mm mags on my .40 S&W barrel and vice versa (no FTL) But never this
  4. I'm not going to be using my Garand for a while so let me know if you want to borrow my internals to swap things out part by part. The feeding assembly (plus trigger group and bolt assemblies if you want) will fit in a flat rate USPS box My M1 functions perfectly although does not accept parkerized clips that I bought from KS (http://www.keepshooting.com/m1-garand-en-bloc-clip-10-pack.html) -- that's the only issue I've ever had with it Edit: looks like you've figured it out but offer is open
  5. I thought I was the only one still buying this stuff I feel like you answered the question, "What's in a rape kit?"
  6. Thanks Dave I'm just about done amassing consumables and planning to start finishing it early next week I also picked up some Tom's 1/3 mix gunstock wax
  7. One of them fancy Glocks with the slide stop on the ejection side That's cold man
  8. Of course.. Personally, I do my own wet work. But some people prefer to speak softly and have a lawyer wave a big stick when dealing with a petty and spiteful municipal government.
  9. I've seen town applications that require the references to be in state and not employed by the town PD. Can probably overcome that obstacle with a letter from NJ2AS
  10. US made with onsite warranty replacement? Snap-On Foreign made with walk-in warranty replacement? Craftsman Wish I still lived close to a Sears hardware
  11. OP: Look at your email headers, probably still remnants of being passed around Compuserve or Prodigy 20 years ago
  12. Nope, you just brought it there (and you can leave it there). A lot of people donate to their local firehouse instead of a police union. The idea being that volunteer forces are usually more hard up for money. Nothing to do with cop's salaries. Regarding the discussion about shields and cards: What do you guys think of using PBA/FOP tags on your family vehicles? And how do you all feel about everyone and their mother having a blue line decal on their family vehicles these days (obsoleting the message that this discrete identifiers had conveyed in the past couple decades)?
  13. That is a nice rifle, looks great too.. well done!
  14. Haha, RAISE PLOW! But the plow won't go any higher!
  15. My question was whether a denial on solely the exemption would constitute being denied for a gun permit or license. This is a question that frequently occurs on permits and licenses in various states and often complicates those processes. I've probably had to answer that question 10 times out of state. I suppose the question boils down to, does the exemption constitute a permit or license in and of itself? I'm guessing not but I'd like to see an official denial letter to see how they word it.
  16. These are the supplies I have on hand so far: Lots of BLO Lots of denatured alcohol 2x Fiebing's Leather Dye, Medium Brown, 4 oz. 2x Rit's Dye (Liquid), Dark Brown, 8 oz. 2x Tom's 1/3 Mix Military Gunstock Wax (Natural Mix), 4 oz. 220 grit paper 0000 steel wool I will update this thread with my progress.
  17. Finally here is a pistol grip for my Yugo M70B1. It is hardwood birch and I plan on attempting to match it to the existing M70 stock. I do not plan on installing this PG -- it's more of an experiment to see how close I can get it.
  18. This is a set for a converted Saiga .308. It is walnut and I plan on staining it very dark with a tint of red and making it very glossy.
  19. Next set is for a converted Saiga 7.62. It is also birch laminate. I am tentatively planning on staining this a light color.
  20. Hello, I got some new wood for a few of my AK pattern long guns. It is from Ironwood Designs and I am very happy with the cuts I received. I was planning on buying from him for a while but once 12/14 happened I ordered right away as I expected demand to skyrocket. Once I am done with another refinishing project I will begin prepping and staining this furniture. I'm always looking for advice, suggestions, etc. I am a beginner at this. First set is for a unconverted Saiga 12. It's birch laminate and it came pre-stained in Russian Red for an extra $25: ^^ Crap, forgot to rotate the stock for the second photo
  21. Not surprised at a true bill either way. The complexity of the laws and a well spoken prosecutor could get an indictment on half of us for what we legally possess. Still waiting for the facts and at least he's not serving time while we wait
