  1. No threads underneath . Yes I cut the FSB and gas blocks off with a dremel. Be careful and check a lot.. The potential to cut into your barrel is definitely there. If you take your time and go slow you should be fine.
  2. I am not sure how much help I'll be. I didn't have to thread the barrel. The AK74 FSB is threaded and the brake goes onto that. Thanks! it was fun and I am glad I did the full conversion. My intention was to do an AK 103 clone. I think I got real close minus the folding stock and 30 round mag.
  3. I got a couple updates, I am almost finished. Excuse the crappy cell phone pics.. Removed stock FSB & gas block I notched the barrel for the real ak lower handguard retainer with a chainsaw file that I had laying around(sorry no pictures) Cheap all-thread press for new gas block: Gas block installed: I now need to pin and weld the brake to the FSB before I install that. That should be done soon... let me know if you have any questions. So far I have done this with minimal tools.

    Walther ppq

I have yet to have a double fire. It is my first handgun. I have the M1 version which has the paddle mag release. Magazines are plentiful. You can use the magnum research baby desert eagle mags as they are identical and much cheaper than the walther mags. I am not sure if the M2 can use these or not. That would be my only concern with the new version.
  5. There are always kits avaliable on akfiles.com in the marketplace.
  6. Technically, it should be no different than building an AR. I would think as long as you buy the receiver already made vs. buying a flat and bending yourself, you should be OK however I don't really know. I'd be interested in the consensus here as It seems like a cool project. -carl
  7. So what's a transfer fee for a lower? Is it the same as a complete firearm?
  8. For those of you who wet tumble, do you de-prime using your press or use some other method? What are the option? Is dirty brass in the press an issue? Thanks
  9. I see what you are saying. The majority of people are saying if you don't weld over the pin/screw or use silver solder it is not NJ legal citing BATF rules for NFA compliance. If this is true, that would mean everyone in NJ who owns a Stag Arms "NJ compliant" rifle would be a criminal since they only press fit a pin on the muzzle brakes and do not use a weld on top. How could this be?
  10. While there is no definition of permanent, there is no mention of requiring it either. Lets be honest here whether you use a set screw threaded and grinded off flush vs a blind pin or silver solder, if a leo wants to remove it in their workshop, they can. Nothing is permanent.
  11. Yeah I see that but to me, that article is addressing over all barrel length. I dunno..whatever.
  12. What about an old fashioned arc welder? Do most use Tig?
  13. The problem is there is nothing that I have been able to find either in AG guidlines, NJSP or NJAC 13:54-1.2 People use the old expired atf assault weapons ban as a reference. Someone please share that info if its available.
  14. A set screw and jb weld is never coming out without tools. I don't undersatnd why this is not acceptable.
  15. Nice! I have the M1 version and love it!
  16. Yeah I would not use a drill to tap that hole... Other than that his videos are pretty good.
  17. NIce.. I got mine today also. I take it that guy on AKfiles had more? I am glad that worked out for ya.
