  1. We spent a week in Belieze about 15 years ago and loved it. First part of the trip was diving; we stayed at Ramon’s Village on Ambergris Caye (http://ramons.com/ ). A warning – if you aren’t a diver, there ain’t much to do, not even much of a beach. (actually, I just looked at the web site and it looks a bit different than when I was there). If you are a diver, you won’t ever want to leave. And if you are a diver, try and dive the blue hole – an experience you’ll never forget. You’ll be down at about 145 feet, so your time will be limited to about 9 minutes at depth, but it’s absolutely breathtaking. The second half of the week we stayed at a resort in the mountains and explored the ruins, which was very cool. The ruins I went to see where in the mountains, not the jungle. Had to get to the resort by 4WD. Pine trees, coffe beans, and scorpions; an odd combination. Go – you won’t regret it
  2. I have been hunting in PA the last few years, and decided to get my NJ hunting license this year. Imagine my surprise when I saw that I can’t hunt squirrel or rabbit with a .22. According to the regs I am allowed either a shotgun or muzzleloader of .36 cal or less. So it seems to me that a 12 gauge is a little overkill for rabbit and squirrel. What do you guys use? 20 ga? 410?

  5. I did the next best thing - I entered the contest. Thanks for pointing it out, Jarret; I could use a new Benelli...
  6. You can purchase your membership at Sarco - or do it right on-line here: https://www.efga.net/join/ If your membership has lapsed, you will need to pay the extra $30.
  7. I’m calling BS. I travel all the time for business, both domestic and international, and if you actually do that then you are the clown in front of me that totally pisses me off. When I am travelling I want to get through security as fast as possible, and while you may think you are funny, you’re cutting into my happy hour. And if you really travel as much as you say you do, you’re not in the standard line anyway. You are in the TSA pre-check line (with me), where you don’t need to remove your shoes, take out your toiletries, and keep your laptop packed. If you travel a lot internationally, you are also enrolled in the trusted traveler (Global Entry) program, so you can breeze through immigration when you re-enter the country. Finally, you will have figured out how to travel for up to 2 weeks with 1 carryon and a briefcase or backpack – no checked luggage. Anyone who spends as much time in airports as I do tries to make the line move as quickly as possible, and amateurs like you just make it hard for everyone else.
  8. If that were a Fender guitar, it would be called "reliced" and you'd be charged twice as much.
  9. There is a Marksman BB gun in one of the pics - they can be had for ~ $10 used, $25 new from Amazon. Pick up 10 of these from Wallmart next time you're in PA, turn them in at the next buyback (no questions asked!), and go buy yourself a nice 1911 with your profit.
  10. http://www.wired.com/design/2013/07/incredible-cross-sections-of-real-ammunition?mbid=nl_wired_20130716 That’s what you can see here. “Ammo,” by Sabine Pearlman, is a series of photos of perfectly bisected projectiles.
  11. You need to ask yourself - Do you have a $60 head, or a $300 head?
  12. I went in with a buddy of mine for a few items and split the shipping. Like the OP said, if you order multiples of the same thing shipping costs per item reduce significantly.
  13. Scuba diving Wine Making Guitar Any and all water sports And I'm a pretty good cook...
  14. Thanks for the heads-up! Ordering a shooting mat for Appleseed.
  15. Mags for a 10/22 are ~ $20 each, so if the scope is decent I'd say it's a good deal. There are more accessories for the 10/22 than just about any rifle out there.
  16. So I am about to purchase my first (modern) shotgun. I have borrowed a friend's 12 gauge slug gun for deer, shot clays with a borrowed pump, and hunted with my blackpowder 20 guage, so I not a complete n00b (but close!) I am looking for something that I can use for both clays, deer, and turkey, and have been eyeing up a Remington 870 with laminate stock at the local gun shop (I'm more of a wood and blued steel guy). And, like most, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on this. Any observations, advice, caveats? Thanks!
  17. I hunt in PA, and as far as I know you are not allowed to hunt with a semi auto .22, so no 10/22: § 141.22. Small game.(a) Permitted devices. It is lawful to hunt small game, except woodchucks with the following devices: (1) A manually operated rifle or handgun. The firearm must be .23 caliber or less, that projects single-projectile ammunition. For Turkey, the law states: § 141.45. Turkey.(a) Fall turkey season. (1) Permitted devices. It is lawful to hunt turkey during the fall turkey season with any of the following devices: (i) A manually operated centerfire, rimfire or muzzleloading firearm using single-projectile ammunition, except as otherwise prohibited in paragraph (2)(i).

  21. Faxed on April 8th, got the call on Apri 23rd. 15 calendar days for a rifle.
  22. OK, I'll let my nerd flag fly. If you want to read a great fantasy series with excellent writing, start here: http://www.amazon.com/Dragonbone-Chair-Memory-Sorrow-Thorn/dp/0756402697/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365602625&sr=8-1&keywords=dragonbone+chair If you haven't read anything by Tadd Williams you''re missing out. And, unlike GRRM, this series is complete - no waiting!
  23. The 10/22 posts over in the rimfire forum got me Googling (had not heard the term "Liberty Rifle" before), which of course brought me to the Appleseed web site. So - has anyone been to one of these? Care to tell us about it? Thanks
  24. "Some guns SHOULD be stored muzzle down, such as all muzzle-loaders to prevent oil migration in the breech plug." Really? I've been shooting muzzle-loaders for 20 years and have never heard of this. Not saying it's wrong, and I'm always willing to learn. Anyone else hear of this? BTW - if you look at amories at places like Williamsburg, muskets are stored muzzle up.
